There is no meaning

I search within my heart
Try to find the answers
But in my mind I only find
The broken legs of dancers
The cut-off hands of painters
The wired-shut jaws of truth
And I cannot forgive myself
For giving up my youth
There's no point in having feelings
If no one's there to see
If no one cares to look within
To see the heart that could roam free
They keep caged birds inside their chests
They keep doves locked away
In darkness where they slowly die
Knowing they'll rise someday
But doves have it so simple
They soar so high above
The clouded hearts, befuddled minds
