American's Pledge of Allegiance

  Author:  55679  Category:(Debate) Created:(6/27/2002 9:19:00 PM)

I pledge Alliegance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republc, for which it stands, one nation UNDER GOD, with liberty and justice for all.

This is how most students start their day at school and the hottest topic in the news across the United States.

My view on this courtcase is it is outrageous, in high school saying the pledge is optional. The father who is ruling that "under God" does not seperate law and religion is only half right. Our country was founded so there could be a choice of religion and the pledge was revised to be a more suitable upbringing in 1954.

Religion is something people can not get around. Churches, worshop places, and temples are on just about every street corner, crosses are hung up in houses, sold in non-religious stores. Talked about in schools, life, and families. But is it really a crisis to say it in the pledge of our country?

I say no, not because I am catholic, because I am an American whose life was majorly affected by September 11th, Because not only is it a choice, but it's a duty to show patriotism, because our relatives had to make mistakes for people to be where they are today!

Is the father wrong to Pursue this case, no, it's a opinion. But when will opinions end, next will be "we are Democratic, not Republc" or "by saying the plegde we are worshiping a flag. There are some cases where the line is thin and hard to see. So whatever our justice system decides will be a rough and steep coarse in which either decision will need explain. I want to know what you guys think, not just the Americans, EVERYBODY, the world!

Date: 6/27/2002 9:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 18887    i agree with Luv Bug there
Date: 6/27/2002 9:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 52866    Uggggggh...not MORE on this. It's getting annoying. I'm sorry, but these posts are really bugging me. I like the pledge the way it is with UNDER GOD included because that's how I was taught it and that's how I've sadi it since pre school. - Luv Bug
Date: 6/27/2002 9:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 48526    i dont think they shoud change the pledge.i like it the way it is. its optional, pepl dont have to say it. and if the "under God"part bothers them that much then they dont have to say that part at all.
Date: 6/27/2002 9:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 14464    i think it is good they took it out of schools. Kids get into to many fights over stupid religion. I have before and it is so stupid. It was because I didn't want to say the pledge because i don't believe in godso I was made fun of and called into the office because the kids sai that me and my friend were going to kill everyone at school. I think it will help cut down on kids fighting or getting made fun of because of their beliefs.
Date: 6/27/2002 9:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 45848    I made a post on this earlier...and I think it should stay the way it is..
Date: 6/27/2002 9:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 44850    should be the way it WAS ... the reasoning for putting 'under god' in it reeks of religious figures (the knights of columbus were a major factor in getting it pushed through *http://www.kofc.org/index_eng.cfm*)forcing religion further and further down our throats ..... i can respect that you are religious, why in the world won't anyone respect those that are not religious? i mean, really what does god have to do with your allegiance to your country? leave god out of it .... that's why this country is wonderful, we have freedom, and the freedom of religion means not only freedom of choosing a religion, but the freedom of NOT BELIEVING in a religion, either ... NO ONE has a problem with it (well, to a degree it could be considered facist, but THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER debate) if you just take GOD out of it . . . and why not? No one has answered to me why its so important to leave god in it ... we are in a country that is dictated by law that the men create, not the laws that god created ... you have your morals, i have mine, there is no reason we should even be discussing those morals when we are discussing the country and the laws of the land ..... besides its all just more and more to show off our society and morals about the (gasp) commies ... (thus the phrase being added in '54 ... mccarthyism), eh, i think i have said my peace ... thanks for listening ... :)
Date: 6/27/2002 9:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 17525    The original pledge did not include the questionable phrase. RESTORE the ORIGINAL. JMO
Date: 6/27/2002 10:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 23610    Ditto what Osiris said.
Date: 6/27/2002 10:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 39272    i think it should be kept the way it was

Date: 6/27/2002 10:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 55679    I am saying people try to find little things wrong with everything, who knows soon the democrats will be mad because only the republic is mentioned.
Date: 6/27/2002 10:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 44850    ditto what lady nyx said.
Date: 6/27/2002 10:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    Why were there no problems with the pledge before? If someone doesn't wanna say "under God".. FINE. DON'T SAY IT! That doesn't mean the majority of people who DO wanna say "under God" have to suffer. You're right, Author. People will find ANYTHING to complain about!
Date: 6/27/2002 11:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    i will always refuse to say the pledge because i dont need to say mindless words to a piece of fabric to be patriotic thats another way for the government to go "oh looky i got one extra kid to push around"
Date: 6/28/2002 12:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    and osiris is right go back to the original i thought we were a "traditional" country i guess not
Date: 6/28/2002 5:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 10146    If you leave it Like it has been since 1954, UNDER GOD, you have more People BOWING to the Government of this World, Through Deception! This is the only Reason Under God, was added! It gives people a sence of peace, that they are serving God, while in all "REALITY" they are Worshiping a mans Government of THIS WORLD! Remember..., Have No other Gods before Me! The Words, "Under God" was only Placed in the Pledge, to PACIFY, the Baby Christian, giving them somthing to suck on to satisfy their pallet, until the Government can Starve them to death, in more ways than one! I got news for all you wishy washy Christians. "ALL NATIONS" are Under God, Whether they Know it or not! God who has power to GIVE or Hold Back blessings on any nation, can and does so, when he see's fit to do so. Why?? Because he is THE SUPREME POWER, that Protects and delivers us, The people of the WORLD! So just keep on taking your Oaths, Saying your Pledges, trusting in a Government of THis World, that is run by "MANKIND", and you Gonna see now Mighty fast, that you have been Trusting in the Wrong Source, for way to long! America is gonna fall, because His Holy Word has said it will.
Date: 6/28/2002 5:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 10146    You Christian Americans need to read, In the Book of James Chapter 5 and verse 12.
Date: 6/28/2002 10:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 56272    I agree with Osiris restore it to what was really said.. congress shouldn't of added anything to it....
Date: 6/28/2002 11:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 56737    4 me i don't really care cuz at my school i'd just say it wuz against my religion,or just stood there singing along to my Blink-182 cd,cuz no one would ever notice, even though i'm not sure about my religion cuz i'm only 13 and right now i don't know what religion to believe in.i don't mean 2 B rude but i got slight doubt if there is a god out there,(i think that if my parents don't teach me about religion,i'm a grow up a Goth, like some of the people at school i hang out with) ~~poor jaded little girl~~
Date: 6/28/2002 12:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 3508    the pledge and constitution is silly
Date: 6/28/2002 12:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 3508    why does america need a pledge, no other country does, its not exactly going to create more terrorists
Date: 6/28/2002 10:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 27678    Once that statement is removed, you are pledging allegiance to the "STATE," a godless entity, but since I don't make pledges, promises or oaths, except to the GOD ALMIGHTY, due to my understanding of BIBLICAL SCRIPTURE, it's kind of a no brainer, to me. While I don't make the pledge, I do adhere to the believe that we are a nation established on the Biblical principles of TRUTH, JUSTICE and LOVE!
Date: 6/28/2002 10:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 27678    And not suprisingly, my man, Jestr, and HAADAM, have gotten the M&M's of the day, cause THEY ARE BOTH RIGHT! CHEERS, BABES, and LOVE YOU ALL!
Date: 6/28/2002 10:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 27678    And since the Knights of Columbus, who according to Paul Blanchard's books, of the 70's, are the group most RESPONSIBLE for instilling CATHOLICSM in AMERICA, are the ones behind the "under God," phrase, doesn't it stand to reason that this may be a way to gain "spiritual support," for this present CRUSADE, or does anyone else understand that point?
Date: 6/29/2002 4:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    im right? what am i right on free girl lol
Date: 6/29/2002 6:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 160    I pledge my alleigance to my creator only, not to a government, a country, not to the state. I will stand respectfully so if the pledge is done where I am present but I will not pledge alliegance to it. There is a difference between the two, God and state they are not one in the same.
Date: 6/30/2002 5:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 56687    I agree w/ Osiris and Lady Nyx.Why can't it say "one nation undivided"? More than likely, this will go to the supreme court-we'll just have to wait and seewhat the outcome is
Date: 6/30/2002 9:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 5252    I have one question! If saying Under God bothers people so much, and the people sayin 'it should be restored to the old', then why not say the old instead of what it is now?? if they do change it to the old, there will still be numerous people saying Under God, change it yourself!
Date: 7/2/2002 6:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 55679    I guess that guy doesn't pay the bills at his house or accepts money. If he does he is accepting that their is a God... on american money it all says "In God We Trust". So if uses money to pay the bills with those words on it, why can't he allow his daughter to say em?
Date: 2/9/2007 6:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 19586    The people that created the pledge believed in god. It shouldnt be changed. I never underestood why this bothered people so much!
