...Update on Bret Hart, he did indeed suffer a mild stroke in a bicycle accident on Monday, but is now out of danger and listed in stable condition in a hospital in Calgary.
Hart was riding at a high speed when his bicycle hit a pot hole, and he flew forward over the handle bars and landed hard on his neck and the back of his head. After a battery of tests, it was revealed that he had suffered a stroke on the right side of his brain. One of the reasons he was forced to retire from wrestling in 2000 was because there was fear because of the damage from the serious concussions in the ring that he could suffer a stroke if he took another hard blow to the head.
According to those close to the situation, he has made great progress since Monday, but has very limited control of the left side of his body. He suffered no brain damage from a mental standpoint, but the part of the brain which controls his ability to move that side of his body was damaged.
He will have to undergo an arduous program to relearn how to fully control his arm and his leg, which will require a lengthy hospital stay. Doctors are hopeful he'll be able to make nearly a full recovery. He is off all machines and today was the first day he was able to eat.
