I totally agree! WHAT is America coming to when you can't even PLEDGE ALLIGANCE to it?! I can't believe this.. hey, here's an idea. If someone doesn't wanna say under God.. DON'T SAY UNDER GOD! |

Maybe the law you should state that it's not compulsory to say it in schools. You know, any children wishing not to pledge allegiance should sit in the corridor. |

Actually this is just further evidence for me that we no longer live in an actual democracy. It seems nowadays that it only takes ONE person and not the MAJORITY it get things changed. |

Kurtvedder by doing that you are just singleing out the kids who cannot participate. Some people do not believe in the same God and may feel uncomfortable with the Pledge and that is probably what happened. :)BabyCry |

But those that don't want to participate shouldn't be forced to participate. That's just as bad as forcing people not to say it. Those that don't wont to participate can go somewhere else while the others that do can say it. It's a healthy way of doing it. We did that with the lords prayer when I was growing up and everyone worked out fine. |

Well to tell you all the truth, I sat sometimes while other kids stood and said it.. I thought I was better than them.. anyways I feel awful for that but now it makes me mad that they say we can't even say it at all... it's our pride... our supposibly free country... it's ours. |

Kurt... I agree with your last post.. you are right, the ones who want to say it can say it and the rest can cover their ears or walk out the door for just a the few minutes it takes to say the phrase... it's simple... they just don't need to do away with it all together... what will they take away next??? |

49498 You are both. The USA is probably more democratic than most democracies in the world. Unlike Australia where we don't have any rights written down on paper at all. |

I think that there should be the Pledge of Alligenice but would you guys feel better if they changed it alittle to where they would take out the "Under God" part? I mean not all people belive in God and belive in something other than we do but may still be patriotic and want to show their patriotism with out jeapardizing their beliefs :)BabyCry |

Rika... that was my next concern... what does it take to tell them that they are tearing away our pride.. they aren't making the world a better place... it's ripping some of us apart while it makes all those greedy people get their way and stand firm on the worlds stage to laugh at us in despair in the face, it hurts... it really does. It's not their comedy hour, time to play around and make jokes.... this is reality, it;s our country... |

Rika, sis. I don't think that they will take away the national anthem because it doesn't have God in it. Atleast that i can recall. And there is supposed to be a separation of Church and State that the gov. is supposed to follow so that is why there is some question about the Pledge. :)BabyCry |

Hey I got it... if they are just going to ban something in the future that once made people proud to stand up for and place their right hands over their beating hearts.. then why write it at all??? If they are just going to take it away... keep us from saying it...now my question is.. "then why did they make it up??" |

ERHIT I don't really go to churh and I used ot love to say the Pledge but i always wondered how they could make us say it if there was supposed to be a separation of church and state. I guess the reason that this is a contreversy is because if the gov. disregards the constitution and our rights to believe in what we want to belive in in any way then why shouldn't we? Do you kow what i am trying to say? I don't know if I am being confusing. :)BabyCry |

Just make your own pledge of allegiance up. Stand up and start saying it. You won't be breaking the law because you won't be doing the illegal pledge. You'll be doing a totally different one . |

th eoriginal pledge of allegiance did not include the phrase " one nation under God", I believe it was added in either 1957 or 59 can't remember but it was added while we were having problems with Russia. What I do believe is that a court ruling in unconstitutional is hypocritical. Until our courts no longer require us to swear on a Bible, they have no business ruling a phrase such as the aforementioned as unconstitutional due to a req of seperation of church and state. I will post on this more thoroughly later but this is my view. |
