What else will they do??!...-ERHIT

I don't know if anyone has posted anything about this yet but I decided that I would because I just wanted to see what people really think about it. I can remember from the 1st grade standing up in class and gazeing at the american flag and starting my day with that old saying "I pledge allegance to the flag of the untited states of america..." The other day I walked into my home and my father looked at me and said "Hey did you know they made a law today where you can't say that in schools anymore." I almost dropped to the floor because I was so angry, what will they do next is what I want to know. I am now in the 10th grade, 15 years of age... still young but hey I know we have the right to say that in class, it should be our choice... not the governments. What do you think?? ROCK ON!!!!-ERHIT aKa "EveryRoseHasItsThorn"

Date: 6/27/2002 11:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 22275    i wont miss it, noone ever said it at my school anyways
Date: 6/27/2002 11:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I totally agree! WHAT is America coming to when you can't even PLEDGE ALLIGANCE to it?! I can't believe this.. hey, here's an idea. If someone doesn't wanna say under God.. DON'T SAY UNDER GOD!
Date: 6/27/2002 11:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    Maybe the law you should state that it's not compulsory to say it in schools. You know, any children wishing not to pledge allegiance should sit in the corridor.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    in our school, we dont even say the pledge. and i dont think they will do away with it, only edit "under god" out....one nation, indivisible...you know? anyway, it is wacky. see ya..M.MAn
Date: 6/27/2002 11:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    Actually this is just further evidence for me that we no longer live in an actual democracy. It seems nowadays that it only takes ONE person and not the MAJORITY it get things changed.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 53339    Kurtvedder by doing that you are just singleing out the kids who cannot participate. Some people do not believe in the same God and may feel uncomfortable with the Pledge and that is probably what happened. :)BabyCry
Date: 6/27/2002 11:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 18516    wow they made a law where you can't say the pledge of allegance anymore? where the heck have I been?! under a rock somewhere?! LOL
Date: 6/27/2002 11:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    axl, we live in a republic
Date: 6/27/2002 11:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 55692    :( I liked saying the plege! its the only pride I have! ...*Sniffs*

^.^ Gracefully Clumsy ^.^

Date: 6/27/2002 11:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    49498, i wont argue with you about semantics but the fact is the government is based on the majority is what rules.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    But those that don't want to participate shouldn't be forced to participate. That's just as bad as forcing people not to say it. Those that don't wont to participate can go somewhere else while the others that do can say it. It's a healthy way of doing it. We did that with the lords prayer when I was growing up and everyone worked out fine.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:29:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    Well to tell you all the truth, I sat sometimes while other kids stood and said it.. I thought I was better than them.. anyways I feel awful for that but now it makes me mad that they say we can't even say it at all... it's our pride... our supposibly free country... it's ours.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    Kurt, bro, you're so right. "But those that don't want to participate shouldn't be forced to participate. That's just as bad as forcing people not to say it." I totally agree with that.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 7830    I think if someone doesnt wanna say it they can sit down while the rest says it. Our freedom of speech is being taken away.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    erhit, you can still say it, the under god part is the part in question
Date: 6/27/2002 11:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    axl i dont know where i got the information from, i think it was my world history teacher is that we are a republic, but i too, do not want to argue about it.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    Kurt... I agree with your last post.. you are right, the ones who want to say it can say it and the rest can cover their ears or walk out the door for just a the few minutes it takes to say the phrase... it's simple... they just don't need to do away with it all together... what will they take away next???
Date: 6/27/2002 11:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I'm just waiting for them to take the national anthem away from sporting events.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    let me restate that comment: i think it was my world history teacher that told me and gave me the reasons which i do not have available, but it is my understanding that we are a republic...probably wrong though
Date: 6/27/2002 11:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    49498 You are both. The USA is probably more democratic than most democracies in the world. Unlike Australia where we don't have any rights written down on paper at all.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 53339    I think that there should be the Pledge of Alligenice but would you guys feel better if they changed it alittle to where they would take out the "Under God" part? I mean not all people belive in God and belive in something other than we do but may still be patriotic and want to show their patriotism with out jeapardizing their beliefs :)BabyCry
Date: 6/27/2002 11:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    Rika... that was my next concern... what does it take to tell them that they are tearing away our pride.. they aren't making the world a better place... it's ripping some of us apart while it makes all those greedy people get their way and stand firm on the worlds stage to laugh at us in despair in the face, it hurts... it really does. It's not their comedy hour, time to play around and make jokes.... this is reality, it;s our country...
Date: 6/27/2002 11:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 53339    Rika, sis. I don't think that they will take away the national anthem because it doesn't have God in it. Atleast that i can recall. And there is supposed to be a separation of Church and State that the gov. is supposed to follow so that is why there is some question about the Pledge. :)BabyCry
Date: 6/27/2002 11:39:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    Babycry.. I am not really a godly person.. I sin and never think twice about it all the time... but I wish i were a big churchy person... things would be better for me.. but hey I still like it the way it is...
Date: 6/27/2002 11:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    Hey I got it... if they are just going to ban something in the future that once made people proud to stand up for and place their right hands over their beating hearts.. then why write it at all??? If they are just going to take it away... keep us from saying it...now my question is.. "then why did they make it up??"
Date: 6/27/2002 11:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    I really dont think they will take away the whole pledge, just the "under god" i mean im sure theyll still have the pledge, just an edited version
Date: 6/27/2002 11:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53339    ERHIT I don't really go to churh and I used ot love to say the Pledge but i always wondered how they could make us say it if there was supposed to be a separation of church and state. I guess the reason that this is a contreversy is because if the gov. disregards the constitution and our rights to believe in what we want to belive in in any way then why shouldn't we? Do you kow what i am trying to say? I don't know if I am being confusing. :)BabyCry
Date: 6/27/2002 11:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    baby I kinda understand.... I am just in my own little corner right now ya know? Not just about this issue... it's all about my life in general... got it? ROCK ON!!!-ERHIT
Date: 6/27/2002 11:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    if they do take it away, im just going to take time out of class to say it by myself if i have to.
Date: 6/27/2002 11:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    you should have a choice it's like religion in the classroom...
Date: 6/27/2002 11:53:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    that's what I'll do also Axl, good idea Cain. I'll just stand up and start saying it and see who rises to say it with me...
Date: 6/27/2002 11:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49910    I can just see myself when I grow old sitting next to my childs bed covering them up and about to read a bed time story and they ask me to tell them about my earlier years and I start talking about this and tell them how I stood in class and placed my right hand over my heart, took a deep breath and started my day off with the pledge allegance to the flag, then one day it was all taken away..... *laughs* I can just see myself doing that..... ROCK ON!!!-ERHIT
Date: 6/27/2002 11:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    Just make your own pledge of allegiance up. Stand up and start saying it. You won't be breaking the law because you won't be doing the illegal pledge. You'll be doing a totally different one .
Date: 6/28/2002 4:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 42792    th eoriginal pledge of allegiance did not include the phrase " one nation under God", I believe it was added in either 1957 or 59 can't remember but it was added while we were having problems with Russia. What I do believe is that a court ruling in unconstitutional is hypocritical. Until our courts no longer require us to swear on a Bible, they have no business ruling a phrase such as the aforementioned as unconstitutional due to a req of seperation of church and state. I will post on this more thoroughly later but this is my view.
