Post what you would read---- Clukinvar

Now, I have read several posts recently, on the subject of the quality of posts crumbling before our very eyes. I'm afraid I must agree. Far too many "Guess this," or "OMG that" posts are springing up, and the quality posts are lost to the mists of time. Even in the eight months I've been a member have the serious posts been eliminated by bored people trying to entertain themselves with absolute rubbish. That is not to say that all new posts are filth, only the vast majority. I hate to judge here, but I can't help it.

This brings me to the heart of the matter: post only what you would be willing to read. This means exactly what it says---> if you have an idea for something to post just because your bored and want to see how many people will reply, think about how you feel when reading post like that made by others. If you don't want to read it, then, chances are neither will anyone else. So, I guess all I'm trying to say here is that if you post quality material, then the overall quality of the site (which so many people complain about) will also increase, making all us little USMers a bit happier.

Just a thought.

Date: 7/18/2002 11:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    'guess' this posts can be eliminated by blocking the games catagory. admins took the steps to eliminate the 'absolute rubbish' posts with the two posts per hour *which I think we found is more like every three hours* rule....etc. I DO agree with you here....but face it new members crop up daily and they haven't gotten in 'with the sswing of things' etc....there is younger members here who might post at a lower level than others....lotsa stuff....so I try not to complain...lol
Date: 7/18/2002 11:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47166    Yeah, I get what you're saying. I'm down with that jive-chicken. I still think it's sad. When I first found this place, over a year ago, it was brimming like a fresh vein of ore. Everywhere you turned there would be a ruby the size of your fist and clear as a bell. But now it's like the vein is old and used, all the ore is gone. Except that's not true. It's still here, just hidden beneath a thick crust of sediment in the form of nothing-stories. ...That was an exceptionally long analogy....

Date: 7/19/2002 12:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 39272    oh im ashamed *hangs head down*..those posts are my favorite kinds to read..lol..i guess we all have our opinions on whats rubbish or not..so i just say read what u wanna read..if its that bad the admins will delete it

Date: 7/19/2002 1:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 57232    I'm guessing that my things aren't too exciting, but I think my bat experience was quite exhilerating (now I know that is spelled wrong), but I agree with posts with titles like, "What's the name of my Dog?!-Ruby Ore wins!!" no offense to anybody who puts these up! Date: 7/19/2002 2:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 16950    I agree with you but I don't know what can be done other than doing what Becky mentioned. :o) But I do have to admit that sometimes it gets old having to sift through a bunch of things that, in my opinion, aren't interesting or well written to get to the good stuff. I guess I could check the box on my profile for certain categories that seem to have a lot of the posts that are of no interest to me but there are times when I do like certain things that are posted in that same category, so I don't want to miss out on any of those. LOL I guess it's kind of like Spam Filters for your email. No matter how you have them set up you will sometimes either miss good email or else sometimes some of the junk will slip through. LOL I guess it's inevitable. :o) I totally see your point though. Take good care everyone & Bless you all! Love & hugs,
Date: 7/19/2002 9:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 12103    This is a good suggestion, im tired of seeing people's post. "Guess what color my tooth brush is" lol...i think that 2 post an hour rule sort of helps out with that...people, well alot, think about what they post....If we didnt have that rule..this would be even more of a problem
Date: 7/28/2002 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 42688    Interestingly enough, I was about to message you about this EXACT same topic when I caught this title on the way to your profile. Oh well, I'll still message you about this. LOL!
