| Date: 7/24/2002 12:01:00 AM From Authorid: 59248 This isn't hogwash or anything else, it's science, someone already said microevolution. Sorry to burst your bubble, but its a big duh, and maybe if you were pre-darwin here, it would be profound, but one of darwin's commonly used models, the peppered moth in Britan is a good example. Here's how that story goes: The moths used to be a light birch-color. The trees were also colored that way, and birds didn't eat the moths, then the industrial revolution came, and the trees were black from the smoke and tar, which made the peppered moths almost die out, but the ones that did stay were the ones that were slightly darker, because they could blend better, and so the darker ones breed with darker, and so on and so on, until they were the colour of the now-blackened trees, and almost all peppered moths in Britan are black. Pretty much, change peppered moths to humans, and industrial revolution to sun/desert, and you have yourself an explanation. If you really want to, study up on the Galapagos Islands, and study how the birds have different beak adaptations, that'll make her change her tune. -Contena |

| Date: 7/25/2002 12:34:00 AM From Authorid: 59248 Sorry again, God didn't have to send them out, they would have been driven by the lust for more land, look at America, do we have to be urged to continue urban sprawl? I think NOT! -Contena |

they were spread out for their lust to reach the heavens...I guess if you do not have a base-belief in God, then you would find it hard to accept my POV...but the urban crawl has more to do with over-populating and less to do with lust...the desire for adventure and to discover the unknown mysteries awaiting in unfound territories can not IMO be defined as lust...And the continuous growth w/in these states, I cannot define as lust (Unless you are speaking of how so many people came about in such rapid succession, LMBO *wink*)...As much as I understand what you are saying, I feel you are only seeing part of the picture...Who causes the changes within nature? Evolution, defined as continuous chaotic events, or God's plan unfolding continuously in a grand design, apparent as well as patterned?~SC ![]() |

Contena, Actually people were driven to one common place, not driven out into the land by their own lust. That was the problem. God told them to spread out and multiple, ancient people didn't do that though. They all gathered in one local valley, of course give or take a few hermits. Also, look at society today. People are drawn to cities, not the open country. ![]() |

Good Job Space Case! ![]() |
| Date: 7/25/2002 4:19:00 PM From Authorid: 59248 For the author... I understand none of your abbreviations or "net lingo" second, People are drawn to SPACE - openness... why does suburbia have little plots of land with grass and gardens? why not just endless apartment buildings? Sure, people grouped together then for human survival, but now, it's hardly the case. And the "people being drawn to the cities" thing doesn't make sense, because people who grew up in the city, usually like the country, and vice versa. The grass is always greener on the other side. By the Way, I do have a belief in God, I just see him as not worrying about humans building a tower to heaven, it's ludicrist... Sorry, but the tower of babel story sounds like an ancient tale to explain to children why people speak different languages... and I'm NOT being mean here!! It's just that how could God have feared them building to heaven, when we now know what is in the atmosphere -- NO AIR !! -- he knew that even if they did have the engineering capacity to build a building that tall (which nobody today has even dreampt of) nobody could live there, because the air is so thin, and the wind would knock the people over. -Contena -- Message me to discuss anything further , but for pete's sake, forward your message with what discussion you're coming from! |
