As a small child, I was terrified of the dark and I usually slept with my parents. On the nights I would sleep alone, they'd leave my light on until I dozed off, and they'd turn it off on their way to bed.
When I was 7 years old, I woke up from being asleep and noticed something horrifying on my wall. I will try to explain this as good as I can. I had this square shadow box thing hanging pretty high on my wall. What I saw in front of me when I woke up was an old man in overalls. He looked dead and he was hanging from my shadow box with a lasso around his neck. I had no idea at this time about people being hung, nor had I ever seen a tv show or anything of a hung person. I laid there for about a minute staring at him. I had no idea how to get to my parents room because I'd have to pass by him to the doorway. It's sketchy what I did next. I might have screamed for my mom, or I may have run out of the room. I do vaguely remember passing by him to get to my parents room. I think I told my mom what I had seen, and when she came in there with me, he was gone. I cannot remember. I do know I saw him plain as day, and that he did not disappear. Maybe it was somehow the act of child imagination. I have no idea. The only reason I would think otherwise is because I had no idea what a hanging was or anything of that nature.
I have a few other things that have happened and I plan to post those soon. How it changed my life:It scared me to death. My mom slept with me for the next two years of my life after this incident. Now I will always be curious if it was real or not, or something my young mind came up with.
