A visit from the shapeshifting god of mischief?

The dream starts off with me on a bicycle (which for me is strange since I am an indoors person). I'm flying along on it at crazy speeds, having a great time, in the town i grew up in (not the town i live in now). The strange part of all of this, is I'm riding my bike in places I should be walking in, and people are looking at me strangely, yet I continue riding my bike into/through a bus station, a mall, and finally (this gets wierd), a dark marble dungeon-like cavern. I finally get off, and wander through it, led only by some driving force, and a slight whisper saying only (Forward... Forward you go...)

I walk for what seems like ages, when finally i'm approached by an old dead friend (died 2 years ago), and he looks at me blankly, not saying a word, what messes my head up, is I can remember talking and carrying on a completely normal conversation with him, and his lips never moved, nor did any of his facial features. And I just left him, and continued walking through the dimly lit passageways of a shiny dark marble surrounding cavern.

I finally stop at the end of this cavern, which leads into a large sort of mosoleum type area. There is an alter-like object in the middle of this rounded marble room, with three steps leading up to it. Slowly i make my ascent, hearing behind me (Forward, Forward you go.) Only this time its no longer a whisper, but more like a distant youthful scream.

YELLING at me to go forward, from some distant place.

I reach the top of the steps, look down, at a perfectly rounded pool of dark liquid.

I can't see whats in it, but I know there is movement.

Now either something is coming up from the bottom, or the water is lowering, I cant tell...

But something emerges, edges of some marble shape too obscure to make out, and yet, just its presence horrifies me, and paralyses me where I stand, and I can't stop watching as this object rises.

Slowly it emerges from the watery surface revealing one word which haunts me, and will continue to haunt me for a long time to come.

It read "LOKI" in all capitol letters, perfectly etched in marble. At the exact moment I read the word, I heard a LOUD WAILING (crying) coming from behind me, but when I whirled around to see what was there, the screaming drifted off to the sound of my alarm clock.

I was still asleep, and yet awake... Unable to move, unable to speak. I could only think "Am I dreaming?" then just as quickly as it was there, it was gone.

How it changed my life:

It hasn't really, except that the word Loki is appearing in my thoughts more and more... Just thought I'd share this dream with some people, as it is really very interesting :)

Date: 7/21/2002 12:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 28944    okay - this may be just a coincidience... but you incited my curiousity with the name Loki here.... and your description of the pool... soooo, i did a little digging around and i found some interesting stuff on ur norse god - loki - who as you so rightly title your dream, is the trickster god/mischief maker.... so here it is... complete with cave and all:
"One of the legends surrounding Loki tells about an incident that occurred when he had attended a feast given by Asgard. During this feast, Loki had an exciting time tormenting the other guests with insults and sneers. It was during this feast, the other gods and goddesses lost their patience with Loki. Up until now, they had tolerated him. To escape their wrath, Loki turned himself into a salmon. Odin however, located the fish and sent out an expedition to catch it. When he had been captured, they placed him in a dark cave. Then his son Vali was transformed into a wolf and immediately attacked his poor brother Narvi and killed him. Narvi's intestines were then used to bind Loki beneath the dripping mouth of a venomous snake. It's in this dreadful place that Loki awaits Ragnarok, then he will emerge from the cave to lead an army of evil and fight with the gods in the final battle. It is during this battle that Loki will meet his end."
i enjoyed reading about your dream.... hope you find this info useful - take care, astral p

Date: 7/21/2002 12:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 15070    Whew- I know the name "LOKI"-(I grew-up with a Hawiian Girl who taught me the name...I even had a stuffed otter-pup by that name). He is a tricky one! Interesting dream....
Date: 7/21/2002 12:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 54444    hmmmmm interesting. Did you know that LOKI is the norse god of the underworld? He is a playful and mischevious god, and it is from his name that we get our word LUCK. People used to refer to GOOD LOKI....later it changed to GOOD LUCK.
