I heard that Hydrogen Peroxide, Alcohol, and lemmon juice can all lighten your hair if you stay in the sun too long with them on. Is that true? If so, what else can?

Date: 7/26/2002 7:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 16376    I've heard vinegar can make it lighter but i'm not sure
Date: 7/26/2002 7:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 33517    I did the proxide thing..And I wouldn't recomend it to anyone...It took me forever to get my hair back to normal..It will dry it out and eventually you will have to get it cut off...which sucked big time.....**Big Canadian Hugs**
Date: 7/26/2002 7:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 51587    Lemon juice ya..but the other stuff I don't know.
Date: 7/26/2002 7:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    peroxide doesn't sound safe neither does actual bleach, lemon works well... don't use sun in.. that stuff is evil and horrid!
Date: 7/26/2002 7:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 19625    Food Coloring, just add it into normal hairspray, but be sure to add about 5-7 drops, depending on how dark you want it, you can add, and mix colors. That'll give you some funky, wash out stuff, if you're really wild, you can divide your hair spray, into a few different bottles and put different colors into each, and go for a Cyndi Lauper-ish effect. That can be really cool. It'll wash out in the shower. Erin-
Date: 7/26/2002 7:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 19625    EEK! 53052... what's wrong with Sun-In?? I was thinking of useing it! *worried look* Erin-
Date: 7/26/2002 8:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 49700    sun in is the best thing ever.....it didnt dye my hair our and it all comes back 2 your natural color at the same time.....plus u can use a hair dryer to make it as blonde as you wont and you wont kill your hair!
Date: 7/27/2002 7:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 53173    I only know of Kool Aid! ~Sparkling Princess~
Date: 7/27/2002 10:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 50921    Lemon juice will lighten your hair...the best way of doing thiss is to put a few tablespoons mixed with water in a spray bottle and spray your whole head and stay the day in the sun...but do not put hydrogen peroxide or alcohol in your hair..it will ruin it!!
Date: 7/28/2002 2:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 55126    do NOT use peroxide...I know this girl who used it on her hair and her hair got so damaged that it fell out. No joke. She had to wear a wig until it grew back in. I've never heard about alcohol, but i wouldn't try it. Lemon juice..uh, it only makes a TINY difference usually.--OzzyChick
Date: 8/5/2002 3:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 61142    I have tried all of those and they all worked for me. The peroxide damaged my hair a little but by condition well I got it back to normal. Alcohol work after a few coats. I put some on a cotton ball and strike it on the hair. lemon juice you cover the hair completely and go out in the sun. It fades after a week or so. henna makes you hair red if that is the color you want to lighten it to.
