I tip based on service, if the service is good 15%... but if it is bad, little to none! I mean... once we went to Denny's to get food, the guy was late with the appetizers and when he came back as we were getting ready to order our food e gave us the CHECK! How rude! |

My tipping depends on the service that I get... if the service is really good then I leave about 30%, but if it isn't it goes down with each thing I find wrong with it ... last night I went out, the bill for 2 people was $21, the service was ok, nothing really wrong, but nothing speacial either, I left $3 ... Those people who rang up the $70 and left you nothing should be ashamed, and if they come in again you should ask not to serve them and let the person who does know that they stiffed you ... IMZP |

My mom leaves exactly 15 percent.. she brings a calculator. Me, however, if I go out with friends, I tend to leave a tip based on whether on not the service was good. Under 15 percent for bad service and over 15 percent for good service. |

We normally tip around 15% or more depending on how good the service was.My hubbys grandmom is a waitress and she says if the tips are bad you are not going home happy I think when we leave a restaurant the waitress is happily surprised at what we leave I always worry sometimes that the table clearer will not be honest and take her tip and then the woman will think we are cheap LOL I think weird stuff at times I once while waiting for the men to get out of the bathroom watched my table to make sure she got the tip LOL |

As an ex waitress myself I can say I tip a lot, heck I even tip the people who do my to-go orders. (not at McDonalds, but at a reg restraunt) When we eat at the buffet we tip 2 or 3 dollars per person at the table. Red Lobster type I leave 25%, if the service is bad I leave 15% and a note stating they would have gotten more if they were better. And if people come out to eat with me and I see they only leave a dollar I will add more to it. Being a waitress is a very hard working job with very little respect. A friend of mine is a police officer and he used to tell me that I made more money then he did.. sad isn't it. But then on a bad day we are lucky to make enough to pay our gas to work. |

I tip 20% as long as the service is good, which drives my husband up the wall..he always puts the money out for the tip (about 10-15%) and while he isn't looking I add more..we also have an on-going disagreement about deducting money if the food is bad..I always tell him it isn't the waitresses fault if the food is bad, as long as the service is good she did her job... |

Last night was slow and I made 165.00. And for all of you that said 15%..lolololol.. we pay 10% just on taxes..so what YOU'RE tipping is 5%.. Alot of people don't know that! I have been serving for 5 years and it is hard work, but think of it this way.. The rude people that look down on you because you're a server are probably making less money then you do and just don't know it! It gets better after time.. hang in there |

My husband and I are like Kelly she said it all for me. I worked in High School at a pizzaria and only make $1.50 an hour and no one ever left tips but I was 18 and worked with friends so had fun! That was about 20yrs ago and min. wage was a lot higher than that. Waitress's do have a hard job and rarely even make min. wage an hour which I think most people don't know. Little Kitty |

I tip 15% to 20%. My hubby is a poor tipper, his one fault, so I have to tell him what to tip or do it myself. And Daijha, I doubt you pay 10% tax on the MEAL, I think you mean that you pay 10% tax on your TIPS, which is like 10 cents on the dollar. You'd clear $.90 on a $1 tip, $1.80 on a $2 tip, $2.70 on a $3 tip, etc. |

I'm a big spender. Typically I'll tip about 30%. Sometimes more. For a $15 bill I'll leave $5. For a $50 I'll probably leave $20 for average service. I absolutely despise letting the people I am out with leave the tip. I can't handle leaving the restaurant with a tip of less than 20%. I can't believe how cheap people can be, and what's more is I can't believe I associate with said cheap people...LMAO... |

i had someone wring out people for not tipping sometimes i tip sometimes i don't it's all on the service and how much cash i have on me. it ALSO depends on the cost of the meal, remember some of us are saving up on minimum wage just to take out our loved one for a nice proper dinner on a special evening. i Tell friends of mine don't EXPECT tips, tips are a BONUS to the job, there are two sides to this coin i know it's hard for you, you've worked hard and did a great job, but in my job i don't get tips i work hard and do a great job also. so there are always 2 sides to every coin, going out to a place that you feel you must tip the cost does add up fairly well and some people have scraped together just to afford the meal.. they shouldn't have to scrape another week just to afford a tip...that's just my personal thoughts on it, i'm not saying we're non-tippers it all depends on the service and how they are |

You know, I have been a waitress for quite a few years and nothing makes me madder than people who bring $40 to a restaurant and go out of their way to spend every cent not caring that they are only going to have 23 cents left to leave for a tip. I saw things like that happen over and over again. Not to mention families who go out to eat but only have a set amount of money, so you wait on a family of 6 giving them everything they need, cleaning up after them and then they don't have it in the budget to leave a cent as a tip. Grrrrr...... if you can't afford a tip, don't go to a restaurant!! |
