For what ever it's worth I agree, there are different personalities behind the scenes at USM and what one may think is not in good taste and delete another may think is fine. I dont have answers. But this place is a free site and they have the freedom to delete away and as they see fit. I too have had a post deleted but I knew that it would be as it stirred up emotions and at the time was a bad thing. I hope this helps. I think that you are a talented writer and have a lot to offer.  |

Here is something which really puzzles and frustrates me. A friend of mine here on this site recently wrote an innocent post and there was nothing wrong with it whatsoever. She even used a medical term for a part of the human anatomy but the post was deleted. Then again, I see posts on a daily basis about flatulence, boobs falling out of swimsuits, see-through clothing, breast feeding, etc. and that seems to be fine. On the other hand, I can write some the most gruesome, gory, sick, twisted stuff that you can imagine and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Heaven forbid, I should want to say something like, 'nipple'. The fact may not be considered that the word is one which is used in the plumbing industry. It's a type of pipe fitting. Oh, no! As soon as anyone saw that word, the post would be history without them bothering to read further. It's a sad commentary on our world today when violence and insanity are okay but even the slightest hint of anything sexual seems to buy you a one way ticket to Hell. What's worse is if something is said and someone takes it the wrong way because they have a dirty mind. Either way, you lose. |

here's my guess. Pulling down a girl's top is basically a sexual assault in legal terms, and the mere suggestion of it therefore puts this site in trouble legally. It is a different thing if someone says that they have had it done to them, as they are thereby not breaking the law. The admins do have to protect this site from things that may get the site in trouble, but they could have ahd the courtesy of informing you of the change needed. Then again this is not a "free" site in terms of what is said and can be said so there is no comeback you can make from this  |

I have been asked to remove that URL and I have done so. Jungabel, I'm just upset at the moment. What I said there may have been uncalled for. I don't know who did what was done. I, in no way, meant to imply that I had anything against the admins. It's just that I hear stories like this over and over again and it's about time that something was done about it, in my opinion. I was and still am highly aggitated about this whole matter and I guess it just slipped out. I wrote a short story once. It dealt with a visit to Japan and I thought it would help with the story if I included some detail about the Japanese culture. I said that the character went to a bathhouse and that the girl there dropped her robe and got in the tub with him so that she could wash his back. That's true. They really do that sometimes. Guess what. Yep. That part of the story was deleted. There was absolutely NOTHING sexual about it but it just disappeared for no good reason. That hurt the story and it hurt me. When someone messes with my words, it's as though they are messing with my head and my thoughts and my creativity. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Do you think it would be okay to stroll into the Louvre, remove a magic marker and draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa just because you thought it would look better that way? Of course, not. The idea is ludicrous. My writing is my creative outlet and it should go untouched unless it is blatently offensive. That's a whole different matter because mine never is. It's all subjective and it isn't my fault if some people can't keep their minds out of the gutter. |

Well I have to say you are right Frankenstein about parts being deleted. I read some of mine posts the other night and parts of them including whole paragraphs were deleted. And some of my post's were deletd as well even when I changed a lot of the words out for G-rated stuff. It depends I guess on the Admin who is reading it and they way they take it into context. While we feel there is nothing wrong someone else may. I guess some people have a lot bigger toes than others when it comes to what can and cant be posted. Ttyl SmoknJoe

Several months ago I tried to post a news story about breast cancer...it was a MEDICAL article, It kept denying the post even after I changed the wording numerous times trying to subsitute breast for something else which is difficult, since there aren't many words one can use to replace breast..right after that I was unable to access my account for at least a week..still don't know if that story had anything to do with it, but I'm not a big believer in coincidences, so I think it had to have something to do with it. The admin who helped me get back on USM was unable to tell me why I'd been banned, so it is still a mystery as to whether it had anything to do with the story I tried to post 4 or 5 times, or if it all was just a mistake.  |

Sheesh, this makes quite a few times this week that people expect me to see one post out of 600 to 700 that come in each day. You know, I can get to your complaints much quicker if you put them in the "Complaints" section, or even on my profile or in my e-mail box. Ok, now for this post ... Frank, you have always been a very good part of this site. You bring a great deal of interesting idea's along with many a laugh-fest. Unfortunately, we don't have enough room on the FAQ page to detail in every way, every part of every rule. Something's have to be indicated, and for the most part that is done with the idea of keeping things pretty much 'G' rated. Farleys, Jungbel, Princess Jen and many others here have already said so much that I would have put here in my comment. So ditto that :-D . Also, all of us administrators are not only volunteers of hundreds of totaled hours per week, but we are also real people. We are not mechanized carbon copies of each other. Also in the gray areas of what is 'G' rated and what is pushing it's way toward 'PG' or 'R', we are all a bit different. The admin who is a mother, and watches lots of Disney cartoons and feature films with her youngsters, will see your tube top exploits as a definite 'no-no' for this site. While the single and dating admin's might think it funny and leave it on the site. From what I think, ... I go on what the visual that is left in my head after I read the post. An embarrassing moment where diving into the pool and the swimming top comes down for a teenager, is not at all the same picture that is left in my head, than when I think of a grown man pulling down the tube top of a perfect stranger in a very public place. As for why an admin did not take the time to tell you that a part of your post was removed to preserve the entire post, well ... 'time' is sometimes at a premium. I think that we are very lucky to have people that will at least take time to delete or change those posts that need it. If they apprise you of the situation, then that is a bonus. Honestly, we have many more complaints when we take out an entire post because of a few words, than if we take considerably more time to update the post to keep it on the site. However, we seem to be in the dumpers for doing one thing, and in the dumpers for doing another. Many admin's on this site are getting tired of not being appreciated for any which way they turn ... including ME !!! NOW, for your "Nazi regime" zap at my husband and me. That sir, is not something that I ever expected from you. I would certainly not berate you in a fashion like that, and in public no less. I have much more respect for your roll on this site, and yourself as a person than to do that. If you indeed do feel that we run a "Nazi regime" here, then Walter Disney and Jim Henson must have run the ultimate "Nazi regime's", in your mind. My wish might be that USM may attain the lofty ideals of the masters of the 'G' ratings such as these two gentlemen. I hope we last even half as long, inspiring people to be kind to each other and express all emotions and ideals without the use of hatred, violence and vulgarity. |

I realize that it was quite uncalled for and I truly do apologize to you. I suppose that I've made the blunder of the year in this case. I regret this post and it only came about as the result of insomnia, personal problems, etc. and I guess when I learned that a portion of my post had been deleted it just sent me off the deep end.
