I've been reading this book which talks about experiencing coincidences.
"Meaningful coincidences can happen at any moment. We may be going through our day when, seemily without warning, an odd chance occurence grabs our attention... Coincidences can involve timely arrival of some special information that we want but have no idea how to get, or the sudden realization that our experience with a past hobby or interest was actually a preperation for landing us a new opportunity or job. Regardless of the details of a particular coincidence, we sense that it is too unlikely to have been the result of luck or mere chance. When a coincidence grabs our attention, we are held, even if only for a moment, in awe of the occurence. At some level we sense that such events were destined in some way, that they were suppose to happen just when they did in order to shift our lives in a new, more inspiring direction."
**Another words, coincidences have deeper meaning than a pure chance of random events that just happen to give us the information or lead us to where we need to be in life. When I was reading this part in the book, I began to wonder if any one remembered a particular coincidence that changed or had some impact in their life and if they thought about it as being something that was more than just luck or chance of events.***
The author gives an example of something Abraham Lincoln once wrote about in his own life. I had no idea about this so I found this to be really interesting.... "Abrahamn Lincoln wrote of one such coincidence that happened in his youth. At that time, Lincoln felt that he was to do more with his life than be a farmer or craftsman like the other residents of his Illinois communnity. One day he encountered a peddler who had obviously fallen on hard times and who asked Lincoln to buy an old barrel of goods, mostly worthless, for a dollar. Lincoln could have easily brushed off the failed merchant, but he gave the peddlar the money and stored the goods. Only later, when he cleaned out the barrel, did Lincoln find among the old cans and utensils a full set of lawbooks, with which he studied to become a lawyer and went on to pursue his remarkable destiny.
**SO can anyone remember something they felt was the coincidence the author talks about?**
The info and quotes are by James Redfield in the book called the "The Celestine Vision."
