I was just sitting here, replying to another post, when I heard..."Squeeeeak! bump." My squeaky front door swinging closed.
I am very well familiar with the sound of my own front door, because, when I am home alone, I am usually on the computer. I will not normally have the tv or any music playing. (I like a quiet house) But I listen for the front door, so I know when my husband is home.
My computer is in the "guest room" which is on the front of the house, next to the living room. Computer desk, faces the windows that are right next to the front door.
Through the wall, to my left, I distinctly heard the door swing shut. Not open, just shut. There is no sound in the house. TV is off and hubby is asleep in our room down the hall. The lights are out in all but this room, and we always lock the door at night.
But I went to check anyway. Sure enough, the door is closed and locked. I peeked outside. The neighborhood is quiet. no one to be seen.
Kinda creeped me out a little.
This is the first time I have heard the door like that. Though there are other sounds. Sometimes at night, I hear dishes clink together in the kitchen. There is also a mysterious beeping that sounds like a watch alarm going off. My husband nor I have ever owned a watch with an alarm. It goes off at odd times, and in odd places. I have tried to trace the beeping, but can't find anything to explain it.
The worst thing is the knocking! At least once or twice a month I am woken from a sound sleep by someone banging on the front door. When I open the door there is never anyone there. This will usually be like at 4 or 5 AM. My husband will wake up when I jump out of bed and go to the door. He never hears the knocking. He thinks I am nuts!
I don't really know why I posted this, I guess I just wanted to tell someone about hearing the door. Now it seems less creepy, just a little nuts. Maybe my husband is right! How it changed my life:It didn't really change my life. Just another in a lifetime of odd happenings!
