((?)) Appreciating and respecting those at the Top of anything ((?))

This is just an observation geared toward individuals in high-ranking positions in life...

People holding distinguished titles often get the "raw end of the deal." It is so easy for the public to criticize them without thinking about all the details and problems they handle.

Being "in the spot-light in life" in any area, is never easy and is open to so many forms of unwanted and often, undeserved attention. It's true that some "top-officials," don't always have the public's best interests at heart but ultimately, they too, are only human and are prone to error.

When I begin to think critically about a person in an authoritarian position, I try to remind myself to ask first, then speak. Until I know the facts and reasons for their actions, I shouldn't judge them. Until I have dealt with their daily routine, I shouldn't feel that I could do it any better.

;o)

Date: 8/13/2002 10:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 50435    I disagree. Those in higher positions are subject to the approval of the lower peons. In the case of government the person in power in question is there because of the people under him/her. If they do not perform in a fashion which was expected of them then they deserve any criticism they get. They are lucky to even be able to maintain their positions. Government responsibilities should be regarded as a privilage, not something that is deserved. If you abuse or neglect those responsibilities, you no longer have any place in government. This is how is SHOULD be, but it is not. They are human, sure. Another part of being a decent human being is the admission of faults. You rarely see this. There's an enormous difference between making human mistakes and being selfish and greedy and self-serving...
Date: 8/13/2002 11:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34487    I agree with your comment, as I stated above...they don't always have our best interests at heart. I just feel that in general, it's not always right to judge someone's intentions or duties without first studying them. You do make some valid points though. Thanks for your input. ;o)
Date: 8/13/2002 11:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34487    GallyTuck, I feel your comment is very applicable in the Governmental realm.
Date: 8/14/2002 1:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    That can work both ways, I think. Sometimes these people - not all of them, but some - are so high up, they do not deign to look down their noses at inconsequential people like your average person. Sam Spade
