Cell phones in cars should not be permitted. Cell phones in theatres, concert halls, or anywhere else that it will distract other paying patrons and will take away from the experience should not be permitted... |

The ringing of cell phones in classrooms, and meetings, are very annoying and distracting too. |

Princess Jen I agree. When I ring someone who is on the phone I feel like I am disrupting them by telling them their total. It is even worse when you have a line and they are trying to talk on the phone holding it in one hand and trying to get change out of their purse with the other hand. It is so annoying. |

well i don't like it either when people go all off on how bad harry potter is for children.... harry potter spawned a whole reading movement of young children who would ususally just watch TV... i DO AGREE cellphones have there places where they should not be permitted, any place where you pay to enter and be entertained(movies concerts) i don't think they should be allowed in school classes, it's not good for the studies!!! and it's very inapropriate and DISRESPECTFUL to the teacher!! it's also rude when someone is trying to serve you and your on the phone |

I agree with the above comments regarding cell phones. I'm instantly ticked if I see someone cruising down the road, peddle to the metal, while talking on a cell phone. Excuse me, but I'M ON THE ROAD TOO and would prefer getting to my destination safely without some bonehead that's too wrapped up in their conversation to pay attention to the road and OTHER drivers.....Yes, it's a big irritant to me.....As for book banning.....I agree that the limitations should be placed by PARENTS, but then again I think that the parental role has dwindled in the eyes of Uncle Sam, so I suggest giving them back their ability to be the disciplinarian, as well as moral teacher...... |

I couldn't agree more. Everyone wants laws about everything these days and they're infringing on our rights most heinously. Like telling restaurant owners that they can't allow smoking in their facilities. The government isn't supposed to micromanage our lives. It's supposed to protect us from enemies and keep our roads in good repair. And all you folks who whine about cell phones? None of us like people on cellphones, especially in cars. So what? Make it illegal? What next? Food? Radios? Common sense is the only thing we're making illegal here. |

Thanks everyone for all your replies and I value all your opinions. I think that there shouldn't be any laws about cell phones, but I think people should be a lot more respectful and considerate of others. I think that the cell phone policy in theaters should be up to the owner, but i think everyone knows that it disturbs others when they use it. I also think that cell phones should be allowed in cards because i think it takes two ppl to make an accident, one who is busy and the other who isn't looking. I also heard there was a law a while back that was supposed to take radios out of cars. |
