I'm all for child leashes. Kids like to run and someone can scoop them up in an instant. If someone has something to say about my "leashing on my kid," I'll have something to say about theirs not being on a leash. good post. |

Speaking from experience......the wrist leashes can be a Godsend......I used them with my children when they were small so that they could have their independance, by walking rather than being carried or riding in the cart, and I could be connected at ALL times. The world's full of FREAKS these days, and it's up to the parents to at least TRY to keep their children out of harms way..... |

I'll tell you, I have to get firm with some of the lil' monsters that are let loose in the store I work in. The mothers just saunter off to other isles as their kid throws items from shelves on the floor, smack glass bottles against other bottles till they almost break, open bottles (some of which no child should ingest because of potency) and some have ice cream and candy they drop and rub into the carpet. I usually ask the mother if she knows where her kid is a couple times, just to hint, and if they pass it off I go over to the child and say, you are going to come over here where your mother is to play, Okay? As I escort them to her. If they are screaming and throwing tantrums I say something about why big boys or girls don't cry. They often shut up. I have had to chase them down before when I noticed they ran out of the store into the mall and out of site in a crowd. Let me tell you, I see how it would be so easy to grab them and exit quickly. Once I was so mad at the parents for letting the kid get lost in the crowd I was tempted to take the kid and hide him somewhere till they learned their lesson. But I'm not that mean...:-\ |

It is so frustrating to see the children running around the store while their parents go about their shopping with no worries while we are chasing around picking up clothes the kids dropped on the floor. Cleaning up the spills they make. We may work in the store but our job is not to babysit customers children. |

I have seen those leahes in Disneyland a lot! The thing that annoys me the most is when kids are runns around and are at your feet when you looking for clothes. I was hit in the face before because a little kid was swinging this little bag around and i dropped a shirt and when i went down to pick to up the kid hit me. he looked at me laughed and ran after his sister...i had a mark for like a week and his mom was standng right there and she told me to watch out next time. i was in her childs way! i am like OMG then she TELLS the kids to go play while mommy looks for clothes...i was like WOW! |

Ep you should have started swinging your bag around and 'accidentally' hit her and said she should watch out next time because she was in your way.LOL |

I remember people having actual kiddie leashes for their children that fit around the wrist. Whatever happened to those? |

Anomaly, I don't know but you would think that after working in the mall for a while I would have seen some one with them but I haven't. |

i am extremely over protective .... i am the mom in the store that always gets dirty looks and sneers when i yell at my son to " get your butt back over here NOW!" (and he is only 2 ft away ) I say let people look and sneer and mumble under their breath about what a terrible mother i am because i dared yell at my son in the middle of a store !!! I will continue to yell and i will continue to keep my son RIGHT NEXT to me .. becaue NO ONE can be trusted!! NO ONE! |
