Long Distance Relationships .... Can they work?? *SunAngel*

Hi guys

Well i was kinda seeing this guy (casually) for awhile until he moved interstate due to sporting commitments. I was over the moon for him because he got drafted to play in the National Legue which is what he'd be working hard for for awhile, but at the same time i was sad cause i was losing him. We now live about 8 to 10 hours drive from each other and because we are both busy people dont get to see each other. In fact he moved about 10 months ago and we havent seen each other since. He is always messaging me and stuff and we get along great but like i said, we were never really serious. And because of this and the distance between us i try and make myself not think about him or let myself think anything will eventuate from it. But he always calls at times when i want him to. Last nite i stayed up alot later than usual watching a sporting program to see who his team was playing on the weekend, what position he was playing, etc. And just as i was about to fall asleep, he messaged my phone saying 'Goodnite Princess'. I melted!!!

Recently he has been calling me alot and i find that my heart flip-flops whenever his number comes up on my phone. He is coming home in about 5 or so weeks cause the session will be over for the year and he keeps saying that he cant wait to see me, etc.

I know that when he comes back, i will fall for him but i dont know if i could handle having to say goodbye to him again when he has to go back. I am not sure if i could have a proper long distance relationship with him. And because of who he is and what he does, the fact that he has all the chicks throwing themselves at him all the time isnt making things easier.

Anyway, the point of the post (LOL, kinda got sidetracked, sorry!!) can long distance relationships work? Are the really worth the sadness and loneliness they entail?

I am confused and very sad! :(

Date: 8/22/2002 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    my mother told me this a while back 'Becky distance relationships are hard, but if they work, their so worth it. I just hope your strong enough to keep yours going' Danny and I live 8 or so hours apart. but we're making it work. YES it's hard when we get together and that time comes where one of us has to go back home. I'll spend my plane ride home bawling BUT I think it is totally worth it. with the right person ANYTHING is possible ;)

Date: 8/22/2002 6:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    Besides.....I think the distance is actually good. it forces the couple to communicate more TO keep the relationship alive AND it makes the time together THAT much more special :D
Date: 8/22/2002 6:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    i agree with Becky, until my hubby and i got married we were in a long distance relationship...and we made it work...they take a LOT of effort but they can be wonderful in the end
Date: 8/22/2002 6:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 5252    it will work if the two people are willing for it to work, they both have to try
Date: 8/22/2002 6:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    thats true Becky. we actually speak alot more now than we did when we live here. when i say speak i mean REALLY talk rather than just mindless chatter, if you know what i mean. everything you say is true Becky but sometimes it really gets me down when all my friends live 10 mins from their boyfriends/girlfriends and get to see them like every nite and on the weekends, meanwhile i get to hang out with a phone!! *sigh*
Date: 8/22/2002 7:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20956    Wow Spirits, that really is long distance!! You must really miss him and it would be hard to see each other since you live on opposite sides of the globe, you poor thing
Date: 8/22/2002 7:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 5252    my guy lives in Dallas, and i live in Amarillo, a couple of hours or so away, we've been together 7 months as of last saturday! :o) it's working so far, and we've known each other for 2 years
