birth contol pills can literally cut your periods in half...if your flow last 7 days with a normal period, it can last 2-3 days on birthcontrol with very light flows...angelinesheart  |

The pill lightens it, but the shot will eventually make it disappear - for most people. If you skip the sugar pills with the birth control pills, that will stop your period too.  |

it can reduce cramps... if you don't take the 7 days off or the sugar pills(your supose to take the pills for 21 days then go off for 7 but often they give you sugar pills just to keep the habit going) you can choose not to go off the pills after the 21 days (or take the sugar pills) and just go onto the next set of pills it will skip your period but talk to a doc before you do that...there are many forms of birth control there is the pill and a shot are the most common they are just marketing a patch right now what should be out early next year...  |

there are MANY MANY types of birth control pills... some women have reactions to the pills and they make them horribly ill... they made me very very ill when i was on them...talk to your Doc or local clinic they can give you much information.. if you are in a larger city they have birth control clinics |

Yeah- they both reduce cramps. I'm on the shot-- I used to get them really bad, but now I don't get them at all. :) |

i agree with mollycat, planned parenthood is an excellent site to start at...there are many different dosages of pills...they have to decide which is the right dosage for you...angelinesheart |

Go to you local Health Department, they have all the info that you may need, when deciding what form of b/c you want. I will give a small warning. I was told the Depovera Shot would only make you gain a couple pounds. I gained 100. I still have a hard time trying to get rid of those pounds.. So beware. Good luck  |
