well i made a 100 A+ on BOTH my driving tests, although it IS necessary to learn how to change a tire...but that shouldn't be required in order to get a drivers license. As long as you know what red yellow green mean, and as long as you know your road signs and what the instruments in your car mean..then i don't know what the problem is, other than people tend to be careless. |

well maybe they should impliment some of the things they do here in BC(canada) you have to have your LEARNERS for 6 months then you get your drivers with a letter(it's a N for Novice) what goes in your back window for 18 months, you also have restrictions on amount of passengers(2 if i have it right) and driving late late at nite and if you are at fault for an accident in this time your licence is suspended for 6 months and you need to restart the program meaning take the tests and get your learners again(this is only if YOU ARE AT FAULT) and after the 18 months you have to take ANOTHER drivers test to get yoru full licence without any restrictions... i find this system is great...because when your a learner there is an L in the back window it's highly recignized the only flaw to this is the N in the window cops can play pick on the teenagers because they know they are a novice fresh on the road that is hte only flaw otherwise it's great |

i like the idea execpt the "N".Camro i scored 100% on all three of my test and i have paid over 5000$ in driving schools. But when i see a teenage girl on the phone doing her makeup in heavy trafic weaving in and out of lanes, that means the tests arn't hard enough.. RacerX |

hey I like the letters in the car idea, they should also add a letter when you have been in more than one accident... like the stupid sticker idea that I would love to see implimented :) lol someone that cuts you off or won't let you merge can be shot with a stupid sticker, see someone with enough stupid stickers and you know to steer clear!! lol |

no it doesn't mean they aren't hard enough(trust me they were hard for me, i had to study my butt off) ...it means she doesn't care and takes for granted that nothing will happen. |

the letter is NOT a STICKER it hangs on suction cups in your back window it doesn't leave any mark on the car... i'd love to see them add a sort of letter like an "S" for seniors over the age of 65.. because most accidents are caused by young drivers and old drivers.. the letter just lets you know that they aren't an experinced driver and that it's a young driver or an old driver... if anyone has been behind a few old drivers they get what i'm talking about!! |

I think that for first getting your license, you should be required to do all of that. I didn't even have to take mine-it got waived. But then again I've never had a ticket. |

adding the letters is discrinmation to people though. They don't mark people with aids, they can't mark peoples cars with letters.>RacerX |

I agree...a Practical Defensive Driving Course should be mandatory for getting ones license. NOT one of those lame Theoretical ones either...where you sit there and read some hand-outs and watch a few movies. I totally support what we call 'Anti-Skid Braking Training' here in NZ...where you drive around a track in a car equiped with hydrolic wheels on the corners which can create a skid on demand...teaching you how to react to these situations, how to steer, how to bring a car back under control when its hanging sideways down the road. Of course, in my day we just grew up fanging around in cars in back paddocks and quiet streets...got our own brand of skid-training and drift-control lessons:) Peace, |

my fiance' and i were discussing this just the other day. I think the tests should be longer and harder too. I got mine so easy and I was only in the car for 15 minutes and 7 minutes I was stuck at lights. he had no idea what my driving capability was like in that short amount of time. I hate bad drivers. its my pet hate. I think people need to be so much more careful on the road. They just dont realise they can KILL PEOPLE with their stupidity. grrrrrrr it gets me so mad. |

Why should people have to know how to change a tire? I have a cell phone. I would just call AAA to come change it for me. Defensive driving courses??? Anytime when a driver is onthe road they have to be defensive, that's automatic. That's common sense. I live in California. You have to watch out for everybody around here. I think we still just need to teach people the basics, so we don't have to be on the defense all the time. |

I don't think the letters are discrimination against the drivers... If they are what the letters dictate, IE New driver or learning driver, that just indicates for safety to all the other drivers that they are new and they should be extra cautious around them. Comparing it to aids patients being marked, isn't even a comparison at all imho. |

CC you may have paid $25,000 for a car but hopefully you will never have an accident with it cause I think you would be disappointed with the amount they pay out.....trust me it certaintly isn't going to buy you another $25,000 car...LOL. I like the letter idea...cept it wouldn't have helped in my accident. He pulled out in front of me, I would have never seen that letter in the back window... |

I don't know if I would like the tag on the car. When I was in driver's ed there was a sticker on the back of the car used to practice in that said STUDENT DRIVER. Despite there being a driving instructor in the car with the student, other cars would often ride your bumper and swerve into your lane just to see what you would do. |

it is NOT discrimination to add a letter in the back window THEY DO THAT a L for LEARNER other drivers know to be cautious while driving around them to give them space... and an N for Novice... meaning "A person new to a field or activity; a beginner." for other people around them to know and be patient around them.... it's like putting up the "cashier in training" sign |
