That Touch Of Grey ~ Hey Larry ~

Well I woke up this mornin', peered in the mirror
Don't mind saying, I felt a little inferior
Thought I was going to greet a brand new day
'Till I noticed that touch of grey

I remember when, not so long ago
When life was easy, a steady flow
I can recall the carefee days
When Mom and Dad paved the way

They looked after me, gave me clothes
Sent me to school, hoping to grow
Not thinking, nor a care in my mind
I harken back to a different time

Life was easier way back then
Wishing I could return to "Begin"
Learning to add 2 plus 2
Yearning to live life anew

I had no worries, nor a care in the world
While I enjoyed candy, or a frosty swirl
Playing with friends who lived on my street
These are the days I find so neat

Those days are gone, as far as I see
Though they beckon me to be carefree
At times I wish that I could bolt
And leave behind my being adult

This I write to each of you
Enjoy your youth, explore something new
Never be hasty, never forget
Life is simply what you make of it

Look back with fondness, with no regret
Learn from the past, do not forget
That life is short, from others do learn
Waste not your youth, and you won't get burned
