“She’s asleep.” Rachel said as she lightly shut Lynn’s bedroom door. “It was good of you to talk to her.” She said to Maggie.
“Well I do feel guilty about what happened.” Maggie said back.
“Don’t feel guilty; it was just a very strange experience.”
“I’m just scared that I did something. I don’t know what that would be, but…” Maggie trailed off, and then she said, “Jason and Leslie were coming right?”
“Yeah, they were, but they went to get a small bite to eat. Why? Are you worried about something?” Rachel asked.
Maggie replied, “I wonder why they never showed up.”
“Maggie I’m sure Jason and Leslie are fine. They probably just decided not to come.” Maggie looked down at the floor in a sad way as if to say: I don’t think their fine. Rachel put her hand on Maggie’s shoulder and said, “Don’t worry; I’m sure their fine.” Maggie looked up and tried to produce a smile on her face, but failed at it. “Try to get some sleep tonight if you can. Everything will be fine in the morning.” Rachel said. Maggie shook her head in understanding. Rachel then wondered aloud, “Where are the guys at?”
“Their downstairs turning the lights off, putting out the fire, and locking the doors.” Maggie said.
Rachel smiled, and said, “I hope they double bolt the door locks.” That brought a hint of a smile to Maggie’s face. “Well I’m going to try to get some sleep, so goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Maggie said back. Rachel walked off toward the master bedroom, and Maggie went the opposite direction to her room.
Downstairs Justin, Jacob, and Wesley were closing down the house for the night. “So when did Maggie’s parents inherit the house?” Jacob asked.
“Two months ago when her grandfather passed away.” Justin said. He then followed up with, “What do you guys think happened tonight with that board?”
“I don’t know man. I’ve never seen anything like that before in my life.” Wesley said alarmed. Wesley then began to lock the front door. As he did he looked out the window just to the left of the door; suddenly he jumped back, with wide eyes. Jacob and Justin looked up at him.
“What’s wrong?” Justin asked. Wesley just pointed at the window. Both Justin and Jacob walked over to look out the window. When they did they saw nothing but heated mist rising up from the ground.
“What did you see?” Asked Jacob.
Wesley told them, “There was a little girl out there. She was hovering above the ground.” Neither Jacob nor Justin knew what to make of what Wesley said.
Then Justin said, “Your mind’s just playing tricks on you.” Wesley shook his head no, but Justin wasn’t going to accept that Wesley saw what he said he saw. “Wesley”, Justin said, “You didn’t see a girl hovering above the ground, your just scared. Now come on let’s go up to bed.” Justin finished what Wesley started, and locked the front door, and then turned off the living room lights. Then he led Wesley to the steps. The group of three walked out of the dark living room, up the stairs.
Upstairs Maggie opened the door to her bedroom, as it creaked open she flicked the light switch on. She began to walk in, and then took a step back. Her eyes were wide open. In the room she saw: Herself as a little girl playing with her two sisters. The three girls were playing with a beautiful dollhouse. The lighting in the room wasn’t normal; it was a bright white light, and there was a haze over the whole scene. Maggie remembered the dollhouse, and she remembered playing with her sisters in the room. Maggie was seeing the past… again! Just then Justin came up behind Maggie. She gasped and turned into Justin’s arms. Justin caught her, and held her tight. He knew something had just happened.
“I saw them again.” Maggie muttered. “I had the visions again.”
Justin rubbed Maggie’s head, calming her down. “It’s alright.” He soothed. “It’s alright.”
“Is the room normal now?” Maggie asked.
“The room’s fine sweetie.” Maggie turned around, and sure enough the room was fine. Maggie breathed a sigh of relive.
“Come on; I’m here for you now.” Justin said as he led Maggie into the room. Justin thought about the past, and how Maggie’s visions tormented her after her sister’s death. He was hoping that her visions wouldn’t return, after returning to a place where Maggie had spent a lot of time as a child. But it looked as if they were coming back, and this worried Justin, though he would never let Maggie know he was worried.
BONG! BONG! BONG! The grandfather clock struck three. Everyone upstairs was asleep. That is, everyone but Wesley. The vision of the hovering girl in the front yard was blocking any sleep. In fact he was wide awake.
Suddenly in the bed next to his, Lynn began to breath heavy. Her body was shaking ever so slightly. Wesley sat up in his bed, and looked over at Lynn. “Lynn!” He said in a loud whisper. “Lynn!” He said a little louder. Lynn didn’t respond. Hence Wesley got up, and walked to Lynn’s bedside. He saw that her eyes were wide open. He called again, “Lynn! Lynn wake up!” He shook her. There was no response. Lynn’s breathing just got heavier, and she shook more. “Help!” Wesley called out. “Help!”
