Middle school- no. High school- yes. The activites are a bit more athletic in HS and you get sweatier. When I was in middle school we had to have our uniforms too. Which weren't really uniforms. Any combination of 'gold', black, white or purple shorts and shirts could be worn and then there were actual uniform. We had a slight choice, but not much. |

We used to have to and I HATED it. I mean I get dressed once in the morning and that should be it. And its kinda uncomfortable changing in a dirty locker/shower room anyway, ya know? They said they wanted us changing clothes because they didnt want us ruining our good clothes with sweat and stuff. But I didnt care. Who cares!? I used to purposly forget my clothes and just sit the class out and watch everyone else. |

I think so..I'm a sophomore in highschool and I had to change out all middle school and last year when I took PE my freshman year. I'd feel much better in gym clothes while doing all the activities than in regular clothes, and I'm sure you don't want to see a bunch of girls doing exercizes in the things they wear these days...I don't...lol |

Because you are teenagers, not little kids. Your bodies are producing lots of hormones... and when you run around and sweat YOU GET STINK! Also they make you change for safety reasons... You have to wear sneakers so you won't slip and fall, you can't wear jeans because you can't move around in them as well as you can in gym clothes etc.. Makes sense to me, it's not really a big deal. And I know how it is... I'm in highschool |

yeah i do think you should change clothes for gym. in our middle school the activities were still athletic enough that we sweated and unless you wanna stink all day you should change your clothes. our gym used to provide towels so we got marked down if we didn't shower. that sucked! what sixth grader wants to get naked in front of their friends? they quit provideng towels because of the expense and couldn't mark us down for showers anymore. i do think ya'll need more time than is allotted for dressing, undressing, and repreparing yourself for the rest of your school day. same with passing period. most kids don't have a hope in heck of going to their locker and using the bathroom before final bell. p.s. a teacher cannot tell you you can't use the bathroom. if they say no you can just get up and go, but you better have a valid reason and don't get caught goofing around instead. lol |

I think that you should walk into gym class wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt and you should leave dressed as a gypsy. I know that sounds strange but that's just me. Everything other Tuesday, you could leave dressed as Elvis Presley. I can see it now. Everyone would always be looking forward to 'Elvis Day.' Rather than detention, if anyone misbehaved, they could be sentenced to leave gym class wearing a chicken suit and they would have to wear it for the rest of the day. |

I'm in middle school and i like it actually. You won't believe how much me and my friends sweat. The people around us are glad that we have PE clothes. I like it better becuase i usually wear jeans and its really hard for me to run in jeans. As for tarheelgirl, your school was too cheap? Our school made us buy our own PE clothes, LOL, from them even. shinobi |

YES, by middle school i say yes, change. AT my school even in middle school if you don't change you sit out of the class and sit in the principal's office, but i agree, i think middle school kids SHOULD have to change clothes for gym. |

i think they should do up 25 private stalls so they don't have to feel embarrased of change infront of thier peers or not have to change at all i think the same should be done in high school also! what do they think makes a teenage girl feel worse about herself?! seeing all her peers some who are taller and thinner and have "better features" what they would wish to have? i think PE just makes people feel bad about themselves and changing infront of your peers makes it even worse! |

I did in junior high and it was terrible. I hated those gross uniforms you had to waste money on. In high school you can wear what you want, it just has to be appropiate and comfortable enough to move in. So I think junior high is a no because you don't do much, and high school is up to you. |

well yall i agree w/ sum of ya but the 1 thing i dont like about it is if u dont dress out than it counts off on ur grade and if u like dress out and wear the wrong kind of shoes it counts as not dressing out and if u dont dress out for 6 days than u get a white slip(a thing u get when ur n real big trouble and if u dont turn it back n than u get iss or oss)but see yall tlak about if we dont change than well be stinky and smelly and shiz well we bairly do nething 2 get us 2 sweat and if there is nething that does sum of the gurls wear there gym clothes back 2 class and not bother 2 change nad even the guys but now jus the "GURLS" have 2 change before going back 2 class b/c n gym they roll there shorts up and when they wear em bck 2 cass they dont roll em back down and there 2 short so we have 2 change clothes we cant wear what we wore into gym unles su didn't bring clothes 2 change into and like 1 of u said if u didn't bring the clothes u had 2 sit and watch the class we arnt that lucky if we wear a skirt and we for got r clothes than we have 2 play n a skirt |

Yes I do. I don't want to sit next to someone is class wearing their sweaty gym clothes that's nasty. It's not like it's a big deal anyway. If you don't enjoy gym just thing, the time it takes to chage reduces the time you spend in class. |

to be honest i think each and everyone is too paranoid on the issues, i mean you live in "rich" areas with "rich schools" and a poor school doesn't mean its poor because you have to buy your own. MOST SCHOOLS ABROAD CONSIDER THAT REASONABLE. because it shuoldn't be provided to you for free, i mean most people get decent salaries to have decent bathrooms at home, but lets face to have 45 cubicles to cut self esteen issues and too hard embarassment is for wimps! when i use to do my swimming courses i would get changed naked like anyone else normally would ,sure there is cubicles to use.. but thats considered a luxury ~(which my place has) but changing for the gym is not so bad and to be doing PE in normal clothes is awful, i mean you Americans are lucky enough to have no uniforms, in places like England most schools are like batteries and the toilets would always stink and the floors will awlays be dirty, even if its considered a top school ,just be fortunate you don'thave to shower publically like they do in Africa! |

I had to change for gym in highschool and I did not mind it too much, except when our gym teacher would hang out in the back with us while we changed, that I did not like.So I would wear my shorts under my school uniform on gym days and just change out of my school top under my gym shirt. |

We didn't have to change in middle school, just HS. In HS our PE was like, running 20 laps around the bb-court, lifting weights, then the sauna. The the next thing it'd be the same thing expect instead of lifting weights we'd play basketball or whatever. |
