~General Advice / A Question~ ..........Ms. HollowLuna

I am curious about something.

What would yall do if you were in a store and two children say the ages between 9 and 7 were behind you very close whistling and playing with a ball *that the store still owns* running around the people in line *about 7 people and only one cashier* the people in line that one can see, are obviously not very happy with the children bumping into them while they are playing etc..

Hmmm..and let's say there are no parents/supervison in site..in other words the kids walked by themselves to the store...

Would you= A. Ignore them? or would you= B. Explain to them very nicely...not to be "loud" & to be considerate of others.

How would you handle the situation?

Date: 9/8/2002 8:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 52866    Because I would rather show maturity by ignoring them than have their mother or father come over to me and confront me about talking to their children, lol
Date: 9/8/2002 8:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 52866    Lol Cain
Date: 9/8/2002 8:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    Normally ill say something to someone, in a nice way of course..i dont USUALLY knock kids down Lol
Date: 9/8/2002 8:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    I think I would speak to a supervisor to make them aware of what is going on and have THEM take the appropriate action..Like remove the children from the store
Date: 9/8/2002 8:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I'd either ignore them OR I'd ask them where their parents were....
Date: 9/8/2002 8:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 56381    I think I would have to go with A too, just because Im not too big on confontation if I dont know the people. (Even children) I would just hope someone else would speak up :) xoxo *Shakira Babe*
Date: 9/8/2002 8:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    Usually a good glare makes them go away.
Date: 9/8/2002 8:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 52866    Yeah sure, Cain
Date: 9/8/2002 8:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    ~Yes but no parents...The kids walked to the store themselves..If you did say something to them but politely and firm...I think perhaps that would be OK. Besides...by the time you left the store it really wouldn't matter anyway.*the children telling their parents* What would matter though, would be the choice of words and kindness offered to the children to be considerate of others. ~Ms. H.L.
Date: 9/8/2002 8:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    ~Okies...so some of you would A.Ignore and one for "to tell the Supervisor." ~Ms. H.L.
Date: 9/8/2002 8:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 54570    Hmmm. Make sure noone else is looking... Bust the ball and loudly exclaim "They broke that ball" and look horrified. But really I would ignore them. Parents today are very overprotective of thier heathen offspring...err children. There is nothing like an irrate parent shouting and rolling thier eyes at you like you are beneathe them or something. Usually I just act like I am hocking a lugi and they leave very very quickly. or I just stare and pick my nose while looking coldly at them. hmmm I can be such a bum lol
Date: 9/8/2002 8:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    probably just ignore them. kids will be kids, and besides if their parents arent there then they'll probably just ignore you anyway. If they are being a major nusiance, then it'll probably only be a matter of time before the store manager has a word with them :)
Date: 9/8/2002 8:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    LMAO Smokn Joe!!!
Date: 9/8/2002 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 59286    I would probably ignore them, unless they were putting themselves or someone else in danger. Regina
Date: 9/8/2002 8:26:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    ~Well....I picked B. and was proud of myself..I was the only one in line to speak up. I turned around and started speaking to them about about consideration..I also complemented the 9 yr. old about his whistling. I asked him if his brother taught him how to whistle, he said they practice together...I told him, Wow really? That must be fun! Well...after the lite conversation the older boy said he was sorry...and I mean, you could feel, he was really sorry. I told him not to be sorry but to think about other people too..I told them both they were good boys and to have a fun day. It worked out quite well....{:-> ~Ms. H.L.
Date: 9/8/2002 8:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    *She laughs* You meanie S.J.!!....{:-> ~Ms. H.L.
Date: 9/8/2002 8:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 54429    C
Date: 9/8/2002 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 61782    I would do B for sure---Evilgeminitwin23
Date: 9/8/2002 9:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 56369    I would go real loud "OI! Stop that!" And smile at them so I dont hurt there feelings, and if they kept doin it I'ld say "I SAID STOP THAT" And then just glare at them, no smile :P
Date: 9/8/2002 9:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    considering that most stores have a policy that people under a certain age can be there without their parents, I would kindly tell them that they had to find their parents or leave.
Date: 9/8/2002 9:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    ~Thanks for all the replies guys..I do appreciate them..{:-> ~Ms. H.L.
Date: 9/9/2002 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 54808    I would do B, they might learn a lesson hearing it from somebody they don't know. They might feel ashamed, but at least they'll know that that's not the polite thing to do! :)
Date: 9/10/2002 8:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 6904    A- kids are kids- youve just got to put up with it!
Date: 9/10/2002 9:55:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57452    ~Actually....I do not have to "put-up-with-it." And I did not...*she laughs* I do not have to put up with "anything" if I can do soemthing about it in a most-positive light!..{:-> You can "put-up- with-it" if you like. Not this gurrrllll....*she laughs* Have a great day ¤Claire¤! Thank you for the reply. ~Ms. HollowLuna
Date: 9/12/2002 3:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 8424    Oh I would tell them to quit it for sure! I would do it if their parents were there, I dont care
Date: 9/12/2002 7:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 60685    LOL, I usually ignore them and if they are just driving me nuts I would take the ball away and play with it myself, that should teach them,hehe. -*Skylar*
