HM (His/Hers Majesties) prison Pentridge was located in Coburg (formerly named Pentridge), Victoria, Australia a suburb of Melbourne, it was one of Melbourne's first major prisons and was built by the first convicts to stay their, it was a grand bluestone place and had a infamous past from hangings, murders, riots and escapes. Pentridge was still operational up until c (circa) 1998 (if my memory serves me correct) but all that stands now (after 2000-2001) is the front of the bluestone buildings, which is home to a new housing estate, the graves of Ned Kelly (Australian bushranger) and many other dead convicts. In 1998 not longer after it closed, I went for a tour of the jail with my family, and visited the facility wandering in to cells and the exercise yards learning about the Murders, Rapists and Criminals that used to occupy the complex, some were even hung their for their crimes. Some cells that I went in to gave me an eerie feeling, but I could cope with it, I even coped with walking under the gallows (where people are hung from) in H block (high security, detention of the worst criminals like Mark "Chopper" Read if you have seen the movie Chopper staring Eric Bana) but when I came to the solitary confinement cells where misbehaving criminals spent days on end in the dark with only bread and water, I was freaked out I entered the doors leading down to the cells and I knew I had to get out of their... it may have been my claustrophobia (which I don't suffer from anymore) but I don't think so , I felt this over whelming sense of terror and coldness it felt like something evil was in their watching me wanting to harm or kill me, I got further then a few people, one person got in the gates of the prison then run out crying and others couldn't even enter the normal cells of criminals who only committed crimes like traffic offences or drink driving and these days would only get a fine or even a warning ... not longer after we left that part of the prison near solitary confinement and continued with the tour...
It really freaked me out I have seen ghosts in the flesh, well not so fleshy hehe, before and never even battered an eyebrow my old house and maybe the house which i am in now is haunted but it doesn't worry me but this day at Pentridge it just plain gave me the willies (creeps, bejevers) and I have never had an experience like it since or before.... I'd like to go to Alcatraz in the USA but I don't think I could some how...
(I will be posting some more of my ghost experiences over the next few days)
