I've already posted one story (Titanic: the alternative ending), and so I decided to post another one and see what you guys think. This prologue has nothing to do with the story, don't ask why I put it on there. If you guys like it, then I'll finish posting. Please give your honest opinions. :) Thanks
Word of Warning, I've put some little phrases and stuff that have to do with my beliefs in here. Hopes ya likes. Its kinda long so I divided the epilogue in 1/2
Prologue 1
The moon crept over the distant mountain peaks. The stars hovered in the heavens, declaring the glory of the God of Israel. The whole land was at peace, the whole land was silent. Animals and humans alike breathed slowly and steadily in sleep. None would rise this day, for it was soon to be the first day of the week, the Christian sabbath. The wind blew gently, swaying the almond and oak trees that grew in the fields of Abaraha. The spring babbled to the breeze blowing past it, and the winds shared the brook's secrets with the trees who kept silent.
Though the land knew peace, that peace was about to be shattered like a stone being throne in a mirror. It would statter and crumble into a million peaces. Some knew of the destruction marching upon the fair city of Ataros, but they ignored it. They thought their esteemed city too great, too well protected to fall into the hands of their nothern enemies. There were some that had feared, and they had escaped with thier lives. They had fled to the cities and Lords of the south, declaring the news of the coming army. All in the city but five did not fear. Those five had finally recieved their warning and were now making their way swiftly through the city. The clatter of their horses on the cobbled stones was sure to wake the population of the city. They reached at the south gate, begging release, but they were denied. The gates would be opened at dawn, but the city would lay in shambles by then. "D'rani," asked one of his companions. "What are we going to do now? All the exits are blocked, there's no hope for escape." D'rani though for a second. "All but one. Come!" He turned his horse in the direction they had come from. "No!" one of the companions came up beside him before he could spur his chestnut stallion forward. "We can't. That will only lead us deeper into the city and stall us!" "We have to, there is no other choice!" The companion backed off and allowed D'rani to lead them. D'rani had led them to the middle of the city, where Sana Antonia's Cathedral stood. It was one of the most accomplished buildings in the city, perhaps the country. The king's castle was not aloud to stand higher than it, nor any other building for that matter. D'rani dismounted and walked back to the white stallion and the woman sitting on it. "My lord, what are you--Ooh!" she said as he pulled her from the saddle. He completely ignored the servant girl and went to his wife. "Give me the child, Aleondra." She was uncertain for a moment, then handed him the child. He handed it to the girl he had just pulled off her horse. He slowly lifted down Aleondra. "Come, my love. Safety holds out her arms and draws her to her bosom. We must hurry though, else the enemy will steel us away. " Two women, three men, and one infant hurried through the dark churchyard and into the doors of Sana Antonia's Cathedral. The doors had been barred shut. D'rani banged on the doors, no answer. It seemed to Aleondra that some force was holding her back from leaving the city. "We will never escape! We might as well stay here and --" "No, agapetos. We must stay alive," he told her tenderly. "Alexon, you and Zahari go around that way and see if you find a door, we shall eventually meet. Come Sylvan, Aleondra." They turned and went into the opposite direction. Aleondra clung to D'rani's arm. She looked up at the huge, stain-glass windows, stained in the form of the Catholic's holy virgin and the saints. All the windows were tightly secured, allowing no entry from the outside. The stone of the church was cut perfectly, probably better than any other stone, except for that of the walls and guard towers surrounding Ataros. She ran her hand over it. It was so soft to the touch. D'rani cursed as he looked and saw Zahari and Alexon. He had found no doors. She only hoped they had. "None," Alexon called out. "No!" D'rani welled. "We have to find a way into the church, there is no other way out." Aleondra looked up to the sky in despair. 'Please allow us a way out!' she pleaded to God.
