Blood stone you make an excellent point. My mom is Catholic, my dad is mennonite. I was raised Catholic, but my brothers and I all went to Mennonite church with my father also. We were taught to fear the unknown, and that "witch craft" was evil. As I got older I have been reading and researching what other religions are about. It is very interesting to discover what makes each religion unique. |

Debate 1: I don't know that witches use Ouija boards. If they do they face the same problem anyone else faces using a Ouija board - they are consorting with evil spirits. When you play with an O-board, what you contact can only be determined by revelation of that spirit to you - by then it is too late. Conversely, any spirit SENT TO YOU, either in the form of a vision or physical manifestation, can only be determined by revelation as well. If you have an objective standard you can determine, by questioning these spirits and measureing what they say by the standard, whether they are good or evil. Of all the religions of the world, only Judeo/Christianity states such an objective standard - 1 John 4:1: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." So we are to test the spirits, and IF their words match up with what God's eternal word says, they are true and good. If they don't, flee from them as they are evil. Likewise, that same standard warns, in Leviticus 19:31 :"Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God." God is basically saying "Don't go looking for spirits; you won't find what you think you'll find. If you meet up with a spiritual being, test them. You'll know its from Me by the answers they give.-------------Debate 2: Same thing thats wrong with playing with dead things on a O-board - the standard says the powers you are playing with are not what they seem to be. Deuteronomy 18:10-12a says: "For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling or sorcery, or allow them to interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is an object of horror and disgust to the LORD...." , and Isaiah 8:19-20: "So why are you trying to find out the future by consulting mediums and psychics? Do not listen to their whisperings and mutterings. Can the living find out the future from the dead? Why not ask your God? 20 "Check their predictions against my testimony," says the LORD. "If their predictions are different from mine, it is because there is no light or truth in them." ----------Debate 3: True, but just because you have the right to worship in the way you wish does not have any bearing on whether that religion is right and correct and true. 1. i think tom just about covered that. for some religious structures it is exactly that. using a Ouija board is to risk consorting with evil spirits which is strictly against what i believe. therefore you will never catch me using one. it does not bother me that you do. i believe in religious freedom as long as no harm is done. to each their own as long as you are not having an effect on me and mine. it would not keep me from being your friend, but probably we would debate alot because if you were my friend i would love you and would be worried for your spiritual well being. 2. there is nothing wrong with being a witch from your point of view. religious freedom. there is plenty wrong with being a witch from my point of view. it has nothing to do with you personally, it has nothing to do with your choices, my god says it is wrong and that is where i stand. as i said before, it wouldn't keep me from knowing you or bering your friend, and i don't go around telling people they are going to hell. just according to my religious beliefs, it is wrong. according to your religious beliefs, i am wrong. lets all just do our own thing and do no harm. 3. yes, religious freedom as long as there is no harm to others on religious principles. incidently, i have a question for a wiccan, anyone up for it?  |

For debate one, I can easily say that there are ignorant people and it's these type of idiots who tainted a witch's reputation to make them as infamous as they are. So they think that anything out of the norm is evil, even the ouija board. They think that everything a witch does is evil, even though it is most definitely NOT the truth. Debate 2: There's nothing wrong with being a witch. As I said before, some idiots blackened the word witch, thus causing people to have negative viewpoints on them. And I think that everyone has the freedom to be whatever religion they want. I was brought up as a Catholic, but I prefer the wiccan religion. I'm still studying, so I don't even consider myself a witch. I'm interested and I think that the religion is very down-to-earth and beautiful. It isn't just a money-making scam like some of the religions are nowadays. I wish people still took religion seriously instead of just going there to look good.  |
