I actually do know someone who murdered another person, but in my eyes I will never see him as a "murderer". He lived a few houses down and across the street from me when I was younger. His daughter and I were close friends. One day she was home alone and his brother-in-law stopped by. He tried to molest my friend (he might have succeeded I can't remember now). She told her step dad when he got home and he grabbed his gun and went to the guy's house. There was an altercation and the gun went off. Obviously, the brother-in-law was killed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what he did was right (taking a gun along), but I can imagine how angry he was over this happening to someone he considered to be his child. He didn't pull the trigger on purpose (this was proven in court by a witness who happened to be the wife of the guy who was killed). He was convicted because he brought the gun over there in the first place so it looked premeditated (like he planned on shooting him and would have deliberately if the accident hadn't occured). He was in prison for many years (I can't remember exactly). Our community welcomed him home not because we condoned what he did, but because we understood the need to protect a child. He is a wonderful man and adds to the community in many ways. |

I went to a technical college with a guy who murdered a complete stranger with his bare hands in a street brawl, the guy he beat up suffered a brain haemorrhage and died shortly afterwoods. As a side note, I was once treated as a suspect in a killing because I had worked with the victim, I was interviewed and fingerprinted as well as palm prints and foot castings, let me tell you even if you are completely innocenent (of which I was) you feel guilty when being grilled, especially when they expect you to know what you were doing on a date some 10 months in the past. I'll tell you all something for nothing, you never forget it and thats a fact. |

We don't have a Death Row here in NZ...but yes, I do know a few murderers. I was brought up in a village that was beside one of the local Prisons, as my father worked there...so I got to know quite few people who were in there for murder. Personally I know of a class mate who has killed someone, kinda by accident though...and I also had a friend who committed murder - real cold-blooded premeditated murder too. I also work with a number of clients who have committed murder in a state of psychiatric unwellness...the wierd (and maybe somewhat scary) thing is that most murders I have met are actually reasonably nice people...they just happen to have taken someones or a couple of someones life/lives. Peace, |

Yes, my adopted nephew. He didn't actually do the murder but he aided the person who did. He said he was too scared not to. I don't believe no one would make me aid in such a crime, I would rather die as an innocent victim than live in jail as a criminal.I have seen first handwhat this has done to his family and it hurts me deeply. He was young and running wild and now he's paying for that. What I believe is that you teach your children to always be leaders, not followers!! Teach love in your home and be an example for your children to follow proudly. |

Yes....I had a friend, who was somewhat wild, but other than that I thought he was a great guy for the most part. Until he and another guy killed one of my other friends for being gay.....Now I think they can both rot in Hell....The really sad thing is that the guy they murdered, gay or not, was a wonderful person! He was so sweet, and would literally do anything he could to help out anyone in need. It was truly tragic and forever changed my opinion of people, as well as the trust.... |

Yes my sister and my best friend went to grade school with child killer Tim Buss he first killed a little girl named Tar Sue Huffman when he was 12 he tortured and molested her and stuffed her body in a barrel. When he was released from prison he kiled anohter child this time a boy named Christopher Meyer in the same manner and burried him in a shallaw grave he is now on death row. My best friend's nephwe stabbed a man to death who was attacking his frined when he was 17. He is in prison also. But to me Tim Buss is the worst. I don't want to go into detail here it is too grusome but put his name in a search engine if you want to know more |

that's precisely why child murderers should be tried as adults - so they don't get out again to do more damage. |

These are some very interesting replies....Apryl, that experience when you were younger, still must haunt you to this day, especially the nature of the whole thing. MadProf, you were a suspect???....that is crazy!!! Agent Smith, if you don't mind me asking...where do you work?, and was it hard for you to have your Dad working with murderers??? I totally agree with you BusyBee., usually these killers do not grow up in a "happy home". I will read your post Kethria, sounds interesting. Jessica, that is kind of weird, living right next door to a murderer...lol. Tac, I can see why your opinion has changed, since your gay friend was murdered because of his sexual preference. Heather...your cousin murdered somebody?...just goes to show you can grow up with somebody and have no clue about how psychotic they really are...poor baby.Mrs. Strider....the name "Tim Buss" does sound familiar...I will check it out on the web this afternoon...freaky....and did you know why, at the time, that your 3rd cousin killed his stepmother...I mean, was there any clues that something that gruesome, might have happened because of their bad relationship??, that is really interesting. Maddog...lol...sounds like you need to find a different circle of friends... |

No, but I once got into an arguement while playing basketball with a guy who the next week was arrested for being on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. He had killed a cop in Tennessee and fled to Jacksonville, and was number 4 on the list. Peace Tom |

Hi there...in response to your question: I work as a Community Based Mental Health Worker. Basically assisting people with psychiatric illnesses to recover, find their own way and their own place in the wider community. Part of that role is to, what is called, 're-introduce' long-time institutionalised people (those who have been in Institutions for a very long time) into the community. Some of those have committed offenses while in a state of unwellness, and in two of the cases that offense was murder. My father had no problems working with murderers...the thing is that most people who take life don't actually do it in a premeditated fashion - it is predominately a spur of the moment, extreme lapse of judgement in extreme circumstances kinda thing. The majority of people I have met who have killed someone are also extremely sorry for what they have done, hold extreme deep regrets for their actions and honestly don't pose that much of a threat. We all make mistakes...some people just make REAL big ones I guess. Peace, |
