I've seen this movie dozens of times and it has never ceased to horrify me. I am a Jew myself and I still cannot believe the horrors Hitler committed. |

Hitler had lots of backup for three years from US corporations, including Ford and IBM, and we didn't even enter the war until Pearl Harbor. But we've exploited this sad event in history every since. Hypocrites. |

Excellent movie. And being based on a true story; a real character and events in history, made it even better for me. From the personal accounts told by survivors that I met, and seeing the numbers branded on their forearms; as well as seeing film taken by liberating soldiers; I see the death camps as being far far worse than anything ever portrayed in a movie. |

Freegirl, The whole world was hearing rumors and stories about Hitler and what he was doing; but NO one could believe it; didn't WANT to believe it, or just plain ignored and looked the other way. "Hypocrites"? Hey, Free Girl, On one hand you are against WARS, but then you feel that America could have done something about the Hollocaust years before they finally got it? (War). What is going on in Africa; Iraq, right now, all the tales of monstrous things....betcha don't believe any of that? You say NO to WAR, but what does one do with a monster? Sit and hold his hand and tell him what a bad boy he has been and to just please stop that? Back in the 30's-40's, I am quite positive that MOST people simply could not imagine, could not and would not believe such atrocities were going on. IF millions of Germans said they didn't know about the death camps right under their own noses, how were we to know? And, sorry, but I do not believe for one second that ALL those years, Harry Truman knew anything about it. THAT is hard for me to swallow. |

And the last time I checked, there weren't any rumors of "camps," in Africa or Iraq, and you, once again, miss the point. |

FreeGirl...In 1944 in a little corner of Hungry, the Germans finally came for the Jews who still lived there...The Jews STILL did not believe the rumors they had been hearing through all the years of war and were sure the Germans were pretty good guys, even when told by eyewitness's, they still chose not to believe what was going on in the camps...They went like lambs to the slaughter...The inmates at the camps they were taken to called them fools for not fighting, for WHY and HOW could they ignore what was going on right in front of their faces and all around them for years..That is a true story from Night.....If people living under the German boot didn't believe, how were Americans suppose to know about and believe what was taking place? |
