If the picture was sent through their own personal computer, then the school has NO say in what she sends or receives..Like you said, it was not child porn..Teachers have a right to a PRIVATE life just like anyone else..as long as what they are doing does not affect their ability as a teacher. |

what a teacher does on it's own time is up to the teacher...if they did it on teh school e-mail addy maybe there is cause for alarm or if they were looking at it at school the teacher should be repremanded! and watched closer... BUT if the teacher likes to look at erotica in thier own time they have the right as any other human ON THIER OWN TIME.... |

I agree with you. I dont see what a big deal it is. It probably happens at every school anyway. As long as it's not child porography and they dont pass it on to the students it should be fine. The picture has nothing to do with the teacher's teaching skills, unless there's some sort of brain sucking, personlaity changing, subliminal message in it...I highly doubt that so yes he/she should still be able to teach. Hope I didnt confuse you. ~Skaterlover~ |

As long as he/she was reading it on her own time, such as her break or before or after school and none of the kids were gawking over their shoulder, I could care less what server it was sent or received from...LOL |

Depends on wether it was the school's computer system, or if it was at home... if it were through the schools computer, well duhhh do you really want someone that stupid (IE MANY RULES about this sort of thing in every school district) teaching your children?? I know that people in my husband's office send around dirty jokes and pictures in e-mails all the time. I don't see the big deal in the situation at all. Most people in their lifetime that have spent any kind of significant amount of time on a computer have sent or received something dirty or perverted in their e-mail, whether solicited or unsolicited. I just don't see the point in making a big deal about it... |

I agree with you. If it was simply a matter of one teacher sending it to another teacher, it's none of anybody's business. If the recipient was offended by the email, they should have simply told that to the sender and that should be the end of it. |

Junga I don't even care if it was sent through the school e-mails on their server and I probably wouldn't view it as a deliberate violation of rules. I know that I have sat here at my house and gotten a funny joke or a nice poem about something and then forwarded it to my friends of course some have been dirty, It has NEVER even occured to me that some of them are accessing their computers through work and could possibly get into trouble for it. I don't know the legistics of the situation.....I just know that it was pornographic in nature and it was sent to another teacher from one of the other teachers. I don't know maybe it's just me but I can't see it being a situation of malice, obviously if that was the case the teacher would have been suspended or let go. It was most likely one of those hey I found this to be funny and without even thinking about it just sending it out. |

Lady Luck your guess is as good as mine...LOL...I was rather shocked to see it in that section of the mewspaper myself.....so its either a friend of a friend that is on the inside with someone that teaches there because we never got a notice home......there was also another issue the person spoke about...She wanted to know why us parents were not notified that a 4th grader threatened a 2nd grader with a knife. We didn't hear about that either...SO I am assuming she has a friend that works somewhere within the school system that is running their mouth about things they were probably told to keep quiet about and the only way to bring it to focus to the rest of us that have kids there was to do it in the paper's sound off section.... |

My thoughts exactly Lady Luck.....not to mention there have been VERY FEW instances of violence in the public school system where I am. By that I mean any form of weapons brought to school. Sure there have been some knives and stuff but they have ALWAYS been around..To me the person made our school system look horrible in doing that...She (I am going to assume it was a woman because it just reads like a nosey woman...LOL)also wanted to know who the new janitor was that stands outside in the morning with his arms folded watching all the action while people double park and kids run out into the middle of the street. I would REALLY love to know what school this person is dropping their kid off at because I am there every morning at 8:35 the busiest drop off period and I have NEVER seen anyone double parked, parked illegally in the handicapped spaces or kids running out into the street. In fact last week I double parked because the monitor was not yet outside when I dropped Az off for school and I pulled over to wait....he came right over to my window and told me I had to move that I COULD NOT double park. Needless to say this little news clipped BUGGED me.....LOL |

Junga who said the teacher was doing a porno search? Most likely what happened is REALLY simple. The teacher came into school in the morning, put thier coat and hat away, grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down to read their e-mails which in the school system most times is announcements, up coming events and whatever. Within their e-mail they probably got a funny dirty joke that included a picture...got a chuckle out of it and said Hey......Mrs. so and so would probably find this funny too and just forwarded it along like it was nothing...It is OBVIOUS that it HAD to be a situation similiar to this or the teacher would have been in more trouble over the situation and US the parents would have been notified.. |

Well I do not think pornography has any place in a school setting howeveer if this was done on a private email and not on school grounds I would not have a problem with it. If it happeneed on school time and on a school email system then yea I have a problem with that because it could inadvertantly slip into the hands of the wrong person |

At one time, teacher's had to be of some integrity, but not anymore. Frankly, I'd be concerned that someone who is supposed to be an intellectual would bother with porn. Porn is degrading, disgusting and definitely not something that is enlightening or of any value, so I agree with the writer to sound off. Throw them out. Young children should be taught by someone with some kind of moral fortitude. |

Junga Oh yeah I am a "homeowner" (not quite my mother in law still holds the deed but I pay the taxes) I pay $1500 a year in school taxes and even so if it was done on the school computer system I don't have a problem with it. Most likely it is because I don't see malicious intent behind it and the reason for that is because obviously neither did the school system. They didn't notify the parents and they didn't suspend or fire the teacher. So it just tells you it was something done without thinking about it because the teacher meant no harm in doing it. So I am not looking at the nasty side of the situation because it doesn't seem like it applies here. Now if the teacher was known for doing this and used the schools terminals to send it along constantly it would be a different situation..but it doesn't appear to be the case here.. |

If it the e-mail was sent from his home, then I'd have to say that it is none of the schools concern. What he does in his private life is his buisness. However if the image was found at the school then I'd say some punishment should be enforced. That is not appropriate behavior for a school. |
