stood up

I have a friend, we will call him Jessie. Jessie and I have been friends for 4 years. I have hung out with him in the past and everything. We have a good time. Well I recently asked him to go to the movies with me cause I want to see the movie 8 mile. I figured since he likes Eminem also maybe he would like to go. He told me that he would go with me "as friends" only. I said sure, thats all it would be. I said I don't want to go as a "date". It would just be 2 friends going to the movies together and everything. I told him I would drive and pay my own way and he would do the same, except he could ride with me since his car is broke down. He said ok and seemed to be all excited about going.

Well here it is Sunday, the day we are supposed to go, and I am sitting at home watching HBO. I tried to call him to see what time he wanted to go, but he never answered the phone. No I am sitting here online and he is on. I sent him an IM and he never answered me. I guess he is avoiding me. I think though if he was not really interested in going in the first place then he sould of been honest and said no thanks, then I could of found someone else to go with. I think it is just kinda ignorant that he blew me off like this. I guess I know who my real friends are now.

UPDATE:

I know iit does not come out until Nov. 8th, but they had a special sneak preview on Sunday around where I live. Also, he even made plans to go see the movie Jackass with me. So we could of even gone and seen that tonight, but instead he had to blow me off. I swear, if he can't be mature enough to understand I just want to go "as friends" then I don't need to go anywhere with him anymore

Date: 11/3/2002 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    what a jerk! he should never agreed to go with you if he wasnt interested. it sounds to me like you made it perfectly clear that you were only going as friends. i am sorry but perhaps you need to keep your distance from this guy for awhile, who needs friends like that?? good luck :)
Date: 11/3/2002 9:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 49374    personally, sometimes guys can be really weird sometimes. just tomorrow when you see him, ask him about it calmly (not real pushy or mean or anything), and he should want to talk to you about it. personally, being that i'm a guy, i wouldn't do something like that, but people can be real weirdos as well. :-D
Date: 11/3/2002 9:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    darn right he should have told you! Unless he was in some sort of serious accident that prevented him from getting to a phone in time to call you... What a spineless twerp! You have my sympathies. sheesh.
Date: 11/3/2002 10:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 18516    He should not have left you hanging on like that. Leave him alone and just go on about your business if he really wants to make things right now then let him come to you. That was really rude of him to ignore you on the IM.
Date: 11/3/2002 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 36766    uhm 8 mile hasnt came out yet...it doesnt come out until friday so maybe thats why u were sittin at home tonite?
Date: 11/4/2002 6:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 60685    I think you said it all, if he's being that immature then forget about him. I know going to the movies alone kinda sucks sometimes but if I had been you I would have gone anyway, and who knows? maybe you would have found a cute guy over there. Anyway, you have all the right to be mad at him so unless something serious happened to him you shouldn't consider him a bit. -*Skylar*
Date: 11/4/2002 10:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 6050    That seriously bites! i of all people know precisely what that is like..I think i've been the most stood up person around(trust me it's truely sad). That's not cool of him at all! Especially if you could've made other plans. Sorry that happened. His loss really.
Date: 11/4/2002 10:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 56489    You should tell him don't flatter himself you didn't actually want to go with him anyway, lol, say you went with another guy that actually knows how to go out as friends and you had a blast, lol, Aimless
