The moon sits in the midnight sky, Reflecting the sun and all that's gone by. Days turn to weeks,turn to months,turn to years. Hopes get broken,shattered, and turn into fears.
If only some things could always remain, We're right to fear change,it'll bring pain. If only, if only, under dark skies, If only, if only, somebody cries.
If only things stayed the same over time, Not fading away like the threads of a rhyme. And not fading away to a misty haze, To which go lost dreams and forgotten days.
The dust settles on the thoughts of the past, Some things should, but aren't, able to last. The cobwebs start forming, down from the top. Things are still, but just a tear drops.
The moon hangs in the midnight sky, Reflecting the sun and all that's gone by. While down from the below, softly and lonely, There is a echo of 'If only, if only...'
