Okay I heard this quote and it really rang true for me. I would like to ask your thoughts on it also.

INSANITY: repeating the same behaviors over and over again, expecting differant results.

Now this is not Webster's definition of insanity or insane. but it is mine.

I am also wondering.....is insanity something we can sometimes control if we actually step outside ourselves and think of others. Is this kind of insanity (using the stated definition a forgivable "sin" and how many times shall one forgive a person whos insanity directly affects a given population on a regular basis?

lalala I could go on forever....but I wont.

Just seemed fitting somehow for a saturday night debate.

Date: 11/9/2002 9:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    I must be insane! I seem to have lived 1 year 5 times!! Great reply Becky. I honestly dont know, I feel there are very few "insane" people in the world, just lots of self centered, selfish, uncaring (i could go on, but i wont) people.
Date: 11/9/2002 9:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    LMAO hey odd! *whack!* LMAO I'm on a roll what can I say LOL
Date: 11/9/2002 9:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20296    ummm...LMAO @ becky. this was meant to be a serious dang post but thank you for lightening it up for me. sheesh....gonna be hard to walk away from some of ya all when the time comes
Date: 11/9/2002 9:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I was being serious! LOL I just played with the definition and nothing else though LOL
Date: 11/9/2002 9:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 1631    Not necessarily insane, but in DENIAL about reality perhaps...
Date: 11/9/2002 9:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20296    I actually got this off the movie 28 days...or is it 27??? anywho....if we are all insane, as DMK says (cause I know by this definition I am either insane or determinedLOL do we have a right to hurt others with our own repeated "issues" or needs? and is insanity a justification for excusal from all 'charges"??? ok...I am making absolutely no sense...kinda went off to the left here. oh never mind. I will let ya all add what ya may
Date: 11/9/2002 9:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 1631    I feel that the INSANE are victims of their own messed up brains and perceptions. A SOCIOPATH type personality manipulates and controls others to believe in their perceptions of themselves. SOCIOPATHS make the conscience effort to lie...
Date: 11/9/2002 9:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    While a person who is insane might be doing the same things over and over again, that does not mean that just BECAUSE a person repeats the same behaviors that THAT person is insane. A person who really IS insane , is someone who is consistently irrational, illogical, and cannot be reasoned with; they don't have a conscience either. When I realize this about someone, I RUN...I get as far away from them as possible.
Date: 11/9/2002 9:19:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20296    I agree ali. Thinker...where do we run too? seems these peeps are everywhere! eeekkk!!!
Date: 11/9/2002 9:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 53182    yes, thats a very bad definition of insanity. (no offence) that seems like its the definition for stupid, rather then insane. the thing with insane people is, if you think your insane, then your not. same with halucinations. if you know its a hullucination, then its not. so its hard to step out of yourself and deal with something you do not know exsists. -the lost boy
Date: 11/9/2002 9:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 20296    great comment lostLOL oh no!!! I am stupid!?! lol...rather be insane. No! I try and learn from my mistakes..I do....yes...I do!LOL
Date: 11/10/2002 8:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 3395    Well, I think insanity means that someone is inflicted with such a controlling mental illness that it results in the inability to control ones actions at times and/or to lead a normal life. Their behavior is so abnormal that they, themselves, don't realize anything is really wrong with them. Peace,
Date: 11/10/2002 8:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 45551    You know, i bet thats what the towns people thought of the right brothers every time they would push thier "plane" of the side of the cliff. knowing what we know now, do you think they were insane.
Date: 11/10/2002 8:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 45551    arghhh "wright" brothers
Date: 11/11/2002 8:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 18231    Hi CB-Sis...don't hate me for my reply...OK?? IMO there are so many degrees of both sanity & insanity that it's almost impossible to label it so easily. Also ... now really consider this... reality is subjective...there are people who lie or steal without any thought to what they are doing. For them their reality enables them to justify their actions in such a way that they truly believe they've done nothing wrong. I myself am a diagnosed bi-polar (manic-depressive) and I thank God every day that I've FINALLY found a mood stabilizer that works well for me. Does that make me insane?? I've also been voluntarily admited into a BSU ward. And consider this...In the world we live in today, you almost have to be a little nuts just to get through each day. Maybe sanity is overrated...you tell me??
