I just have to gripe a little on what it takes to get medical care. Last year in sept. I started to have Abdomible pains. This went on for 2 weeks. I have NO insurance. No kids.(welfare will not help unless u have kids) i cant afford the up front payment it costs to see a Dr. so i visited my local ER. I spent 9 hours while they drew blood, ultrasound, and pelvic exam, then sent in a different dr. He explained to me thati had fluid by my ovaries and he "thought" it was my appendix and he was going to do an exploratory surgery and possibly take it. They started to prep me for surgery and my husband asked them about a cat scan. They said cat scan wouldnt show anything more than the ultrasound. My husband told them to take me off the iv and he was takeing me to Ft. Smith, . The dr was mad. The dr. said ft. smith was going to do the same thing that he did. So i went to ft smith, to the ER. They did a ultrasound right off and found a SOFTBALL size mass on my right ovary. They referred me to a surgeon who made "special" arrangements for me and removed a hemmoragic cyst. I had to sign a form saying that during the surgery it was to be tested for cancer cells if it was cancerous they were to do a full HYSTERECTOMY. Lucky for me it wasnt. 8 months later and 2 more dead end ER visits for abd. pain. i had SEVERE abdombile pains and to my local ER i went. didnt have a choice. They found several cysts and said i had a pelvic infection. which i missed a week of work over. I cant even get any information out of our local DHS office. I mean dont they get paid to inform people and help them? I found a flyer with a number for free mammogram for low income women so i called and the lady gave me a number for University Hospital for Medical Sciences in Little Rock which is 2 1/2 hour drive. I went there for several visits and i was approved for 100% discount. They get government funding and they base it on your income. so i get all my medical care FREE. I was finally diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and am currently being treated. I feel alot better now that i know i can get help. I am disgusted about the DHS office not being abel to know about this. I have over 40,000$ in med. bills now at 23 years old and have to file bankruptcy. I wish this on nobody. Here, its like if you dont have children, we cant help you or tell you anything that can help you. Its frustrating. I guess sometimes things will get worse before they get better. ***sidheprincess***
