This happened about 11 years ago. It was June 3 1991 and my Uncle had just passed away from a car accident. I was 9 at the time and my younger cousin was only 6. I had overheard my mother and aunt talking about how my cousin was going to take it, because she really hadn't come close or known anything about death. My mom and dad and I rode with my aunt and cousin to the funeral and to the gravesite. (My cousin had never attended the viewing) When we were there my cousin started talking to me telling me how her daddy was gone but she knew he'd be back soon. I understood death meant for good and yet really didn't know how to explain it to her. (My aunt never said dead, she just said "Daddy is gone" or "He's gone") When we got to the gravesite and had the ending of the funeral I think my cousin realized that daddy wasn't going to come back. As we watched the casket be lowered into the grave she began to bawl uncontrollably. She ran to my aunt and told her to "make daddy come home now." Of course my aunt couldn't and only held my cousin as they cried together. After a few minutes my cousin looked up from her mothers shoulder and in a teary voice said "It's okay Jesus is watching over daddy." She pointed up and sure enough right there next to where my Uncle had been buried was a statue of Jesus looking down toward the grave. It was about 3 years later, and my aunt had gone to the gravesite and to her surprise the statue was gone. The past 3 years she had gone and the statue had still been there. She called the gaveyard and asked where the statue of Jesus that had been over my uncles grave was. She knew now my cousin understood better the concept of death and and accepted my uncles, but still the statue being gone saddened her because it had put so much happiness in my cousin for the first year after my uncles death. To her surprise when she asked about the statue they told her. "Mam, we never had a statue of Jesus in that part of the graveyard." How it changed my life:When my mother told me I was in awe, we had just started going to church. (My aunt and cousin had gone for a long time) I had seen that statue with my own eyes too!!! And even now when I go back to that grave yard and look to where I had seen it, it amazes me to know that it was all a miracle just to make my cousin accept everything better.
