HOLIDAY TURKEY TREATS.
2 cups turkey "sludge" (after you have served your beautiful turkey and are left staring at the carcas, boil the remains, and scrape off every bit of remainng meat.)
2 garlic cloves
3 teaspoons parmesan cheese.
1 tablespoon fresh parsly
2 eggs
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons each brewer's yeast and safflower oil.
Separate 1 egg white from yolk. Discard yolk (use for something else). Beat egg white and set aside. In a blender combine sludge, brewer's yeast, garlic, oil, and unseparated egg.
Into a large bowl put flour and add to it gradually the liquid mixture. Make a dough and knead about 12 times. Let the dough stand about 10 minutes. (Because these are special treats, they should be made about 2 inches by 5 inch) Roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thickness, and cut into desired shapes and sizes.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes. Remove treats from oven and brush top of bone with beaten egg white. Sprinkle with cheese first, then with parsley to decorate. Return to a 200 degree oven for about another 30 minutes. Turn oven off and allow bones to get bone hard.
this will make about 14 2inch by 5 inch holiday turkey treats.
WHILE A PAT ON THE HEAD IS APPRECIATED, MOST DOGS LOVE A GOOD OUTRIGHT HUG EVERY NOW AND THEN. THEY TOO HAVE A NEED FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND PRAISE. TALK TO THEM, CALL THEM BY NAME, LOOK RIGHT INTO THEIR EYES, AND SAY "WHAT A GOOD DOG YOU ARE."
