OMG! If they didn't let people out to go get medicine especially if it was right outside in their car that wasn't right at all! The Deli that I work at now isn't even that bad. The boss let me rum home one day to get my cold medicine and I live like 10 minutes round trip from work! That wasn't a good place to work at. Glad ya aren't there anymore! |

geez Frank, that places sounds bad! i dont know the laws are over your way, but here its against the law for employees to work over a certain amount of hours without a break and if i had medicine in my car that i needed to get then i'd be allowed to get it ... if not we'd simply go to the workers ombidsman (sp) and complain. no one should have to work under those kinda conditions. Man it really makes me appreciate my job were i get pretty much free rain ~ i went home for the other morning cause my Mum had locked herself out the house. my supervisor was fine for me just to nip off for half hour to let her in. i think its good that you left frank |

In the few times that I have worked in restaurants, I found that it just wasn't the type of work for me. I thought it was horrible. You're over-worked and under-paid. I will never work in a restaurant. |

Shay, if there was a fire, that's what the emergency door was for but if you use it, you're butt had better be blazing or you don't need to bother going back there. Sunny, that's the law here too. For every four hours you work, you're entitle to a fifteen minute break if you want it. Well, who wouldn't want it? I only worked for six hours today and I got to take off thirty minutes for lunch. Where I'm at now is much better. Yes, Raider, there are laws against some of the things that go on there. If most people knew how they operate, I don't think it would be such a popular place. Thanks, everybody. |

OMG, that is just plain crazy. I did work at this one resteraunt where if we got slow the manager would make everyohne clock out so she could save money but we were not allowed to leave the building even though we were off the clock. I didn't work there very long, let me tell ya!! |

I am so glad you got out of that place, when they treat the employees like prisoners/animals locked up. I know how it is to need the job and you stay until you really come to a point where you say Ya know what I cjust can't do it anymore and you think we will manage :) I am glad you are in a better job Frank. |

Think of the experiences you and your bride are encountering. Put a tag on it - everyone and every job is different. Had some horrible experiences - dime store clerk - think we were called "soda jerks" when we worked at a counter that served ice cream dishes. Worst was door to door selling. You learn and it makes you a better person. RAT |
