My house was broken into! Now, I have 3 dogs. A Yorkie Terrier and two Shelties. They were upstairs in my bedroom with me with the door closed. I have kittens and they wanna come in the bedroom at night and keep me awake so I've been closing the door. I think that if the bedroom door had been open, the guy wouldn't have gotten in. The dogs would have ran downstairs. This person kicked in my back door so hard that it tore the woodwork/baseboard from the wall! He got 2 VCR's, $42.00 in change, my watch, my 3 rings and about 10 pairs of earrings. It wasn't like precious gems or anything, but it was the jewelry I wear every day. He came upstairs, went into the bedroom across the hall, tried to get the TV, but came to my bedroom. One dog was at the foot of the bed and went flying off the bed, another ran around the bed, and my "street~smart" sheltie (she was lost for 29 days one winter) who is four years old, jumped on the bed to get to the other side, stood on her hind paws and snarled. I was asleep and woke up just as he turned to run down the steps. Unfortunately, he was able to pull the door shut and the dogs couldn't get out an go after him! He totally freaked! Me and the dogs had been asleep about 3 hours, and didn't hear him come in. Until the pups' heard him upstairs. He tripped over a bag of cat litter and took out about 5 steps and managed to get away. Ya know, you know that they got in somehow, but when you are talking to the 911 operator, and she tells ya that the cops are in your house, and you didn't let them in, that (even though you know)it hits you that it WAS an actual buglary. You never know what your dogs will do in a situation like this and you don't wanna find out, but I do know now what they will do, lol! I will be sleeping with the bedroom door OPEN! Please, never think it won't happen to you because it can happen anytime, anywhere! Thanks for reading!
