Exactly What ARE Those Vision(s) Of The Virgin Mary Anyway?

It seems to me that only Catholics see The Virgin Mary, or experience weeping statues. Now weeping statues are a little easier to explain. The plaster, which is painted over, has minute amounts of water in the plaster itself. A pinprick in the plaster, beneath the eye(s) can allow the moisture to leak out, simulating tears. Now that we have DNA testing, the "tears of blood", have been shown to be pig's blood, among other stuff.

But there have been mass sightings of the Virgin Mary, outdoors, day & night. Mass hysteria? Or is it possible the Virgin Mary is actually a manifstation ( a Glimmer) of the Goddess? Or, maybe she is a demi-Goddess?

And, what about Hindu's, having statues "drinking milk"? That is a miracle, right? And, do only Hindu's experience seeing these miracles?

DEBATE:

1) What are the Marian Visions Anyway?

2) Do only Catholics see Marian Visions?

3) If so, why only Catholics?

AND

4) Could the Virgin Mary actually be a Goddess?

Date: 11/27/2002 8:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 23610    I believe that when a message needs to come across to a person...it will come in a form that is accepted by that person. Therefore if a person is of the Christian faith they are more likely to receive a message from someone that is related to that faith. If you are of another faith you will receive according to what you believe in and what your mind is open to accepting.

Date: 11/27/2002 8:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    a different view of Fatima:This religious booklet offers a novena (in Catholicism the practice of offering devotions during a nine-day period). It is addressed to Our Lady of Fatima—that is, the Virgin Mary whom many devout believe appeared at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Three shepherd children, ten-year-old Lucia dos Santos and two cousins, saw the apparition of the Virgin on the thirteenth of each of six months. At the end of the period, with some seventy-thousand people in attendance, Lucia—a highly precocious and imaginative child—directed their gaze skyward, exclaiming, "The Sun!" As everyone looked up they experienced a "Sun miracle," variously described. Some said the sun spun like a pinwheel, or "danced," or seemed to be falling toward the spectators; some saw a shower of white flower petals or other effects. In fact, the Sun performed no gyrations since the effects were not seen anywhere else. Most likely they were optical effects, caused by staring at something so bright, and similar "Sun miracles" have been reported at other claimed Marian visitation sites. (For a discussion, see Joe Nickell, Looking for a Miracle, Amherst, NY: Prometheus Books, 1998, pp.176-181.)

Date: 11/27/2002 9:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    this is near my house:The Virgin Mary apparition in Clearwater, Florida, has motivated and inspired over a million visitors and locals alike. I am one of those people. The feeling that comes over you when you gaze at her beautiful image impressed upon me the desire to share this vision of faith and hope with those who cannot make the pilgrimage to Clearwater. Although I am not a professional photographer, my desire to share this moving experience, enabled me to capture her essence in several very moving photographs. "Whenever I pass by, I turn my head in her direction to see how many visitors are there drawing strength and unity from her image. It is estimated that over a million people from all over the world have made a point to stop in Clearwater to view the image of the Virgin Mary, and she continues to be a favorite gathering place of locals as well. She has brought new meaning to my community and to me personally. I feel the spiritual power of the Virgin Mary image can bring one closer to God and bring us an inner peace and harmony to share with the world around us." The apparition of the Virgin Mary was first discovered sometime in 1994, but it wasn't until December of 1996 that foliage blocking its view was removed, and the impressive visage of this amazing image could clearly be seen. The apparition stretches almost 60 feet high and more than 20 feet across. The apparition is layered on nine bronze colored glass panels with shades of purple, blue, yellow and green radiating from the reflective window surfaces. She is a majestic, robe draped figure contoured almost to perfection as if by a stained glass artisan. Her head seems slightly tilted, gazing reverently downward, seeming to look at you personally, standing below her.

Date: 11/28/2002 8:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 16671    anyway, God said there would be signs and wonders, He even said there would be lying signs and wonders. So many strange things happen on this earth, so one needs to try to figure out which signs and wonders are from God and which ones are not. I will say however that that when Jesus told the unclean spirits to leave a man, they were sent into the pigs.

Date: 11/28/2002 5:52:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15070    I just found this AWESOME web site, with pictures of Angels, Jesus, and Mary in the clouds. (http://carmenspage.homestead.com/jesuscloud.html)- you guys have GOT to see this pictures!
Date: 11/28/2002 7:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 53713    I really don't think that she is a goddess. Most of the apparations aren't real, like seeing her on a leaf or on a tree trunk, people just have a very big imgination. ~crescentmoon~

Date: 11/30/2002 4:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 23610    Hi, again, LSG. I went to that website that you posted. Cool! But....I swear I've seen that picture before and it was supposed to be after a tornado. I wonder how many stories there are behind this same cloud formation. Interesting site though....I love clouds and....I know it's weird....but I like to just take pictures of clouds too and see what develops. I've always been attracted to clouds....even when no one else is noticing them.
Date: 11/30/2002 4:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 23610    There is a story of a Buddhist apparition. I found this account...."It is said that during that first Great Prayer Festival in 1409, all the people gathered in Lhasa themselves beheld visions solidly present in space, with heavenly hosts of buddhas and divine beings filling the sky like sesame seeds filling a jar." Hmmm....interesting....but I still think that the message comes to people in a form that they will accept. I do believe these things can happen....and I don't believe that they are "evil" in any way....but that they come from the same source....they just come according to the understanding of the person present to receive the message. Just as one would speak the language of the person if they were attempting to communicate with them and wanted to get their message across.
Date: 12/1/2002 1:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 57054    i have always thought that those statues bleeding and crying were hoaxs. i never believed them. and i have noticed too that mainly catholics claim to see these visions..
Date: 6/18/2003 6:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 15157    I don`t know if it is only Catholics who see these visions...but they have names for these visions now...and they call them Teleplasms. Once there was a teleplasm of the Virgin Mary on a door on a local apt complex and the news made the lady clean it with windex! It did not come off and it seemed that the teleplasm was INSIDE the glass itself!
