What's Your Idea Of The Perfect Thanksgiving Menu? **Frankenstein

Well, Granny always did it the best in my book. God knows that I truly miss her. Oh, how I wish my sweet bride could have been there at least once. We're having a really rough time financially at the moment but I hope to recreate the memories in the years to come. Here you go: turkey, ham, home made dressing, dumplings, green bean casserole, corn niblets, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, dinner rolls, iced tea, Coke, coffee and pumpkin pie. Man! That's a feast! I remember how all of us laid around granny's house about to bust out of our pants after we ate. It was just the best and it was even better because we knew that it was made with love. I know how to make everything just about like she did so duplication is no problem. Then again, even if we were rich, there's only the two of us. Mom's in a nursing home and dad does his own thing. We don't have any kids and our friends have plans of their own. We're just going to enjoy the day together. I'm so happy that I'm off. I'm going to sleep as late as I want to and thank God that I don't have to be outside where it's so horribly cold right now. After I get fully awake, I'll cook. What's you idea of the perfect menu and what are your plans for the day?

Date: 11/27/2002 8:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 49354    Turkey, turkey, and more turkey. Thanksgiving is all about the bird in my opinion. For some reason my Mom invited all these random people to our house to eat so we had to get this huge turkey so there would be plenty left for me. Go turkey! I also like this fruit salad my Mom makes. It's really good. I could eat an entire bowl in one sitting. As long as my Thanksgiving meal consists of turkey and that salad, I don't care what else goes on.

Date: 11/27/2002 8:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 28946    Frankie, your Granny'sv dinner sounds like what my Momma always had too. Sure was alot of love went into those dishes. Happy Thanksgiving Bro.
Date: 11/27/2002 8:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 23610    I never used to care that much what I had on Thanksgiving...some turkey, gravy, potatoes, dressing, cranberry sauce, and pie was fine with me. Now that I'm married and have a child...I'm starting to learn to have traditions and create an atmosphere for Thanksgiving. I just finished making the ambrosia, Waldorf salad, greenbean casserole, and some kind of homemade mashed sweet potatoes and pears with a praline topping (LOL...I have no idea what it is called)....oh and of course a cherry pie. The turkey will be done tomorrow along with the rest of the side dishes (mashed potatoes, rolls, relish tray, etc). Man...who knew traditions were so exhausting!

My plans for the day... see family and more family... lol, I am going to be SO tired... it's 1:45 in the AM, and I am dreding tomorrow lol.... I prolly should just stay up and have a nice sleep tomorrow night.. have a good one :)
Date: 11/28/2002 5:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 39887    We are going to my husbands-mothers house for lunch and my nephews house for dinner. What I love is the cornbread dressing and cranberry jellied sauce and sweet potato pie, that is all I really need. Of course I indulge in everything else and go to bed hating myself for eating all day. You know its ike you aren't going to get anything else to eat until next year,ha ha!!
