My Great but Sad Job

I think my job is one of the most rewarding jobs there is but also the toughest. Its hard not to get attached when we actually help the residents with every day life. we dont just take care of them we visit with them, laugh with them, hug them, help them. You get so attached to the people you take care of and then one day they are suddenly gone. Last week one of my favorite residents passed away.I have taken care of her since i started almost 2 years ago. I was more sad than usual because it was very unexpected and I didnt get the chance to say goodbye to her. If its expected then u have more time to prepare for it but i guess when its someones time to go then its their time i guess. I love my job but sometimes its just too upsetting. I am really gonna miss her. She was a very wonderful lady. ***sidheprincess***

Date: 11/27/2002 8:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 26452    I'm guessing you work in a Nursing Home. It really is sad, its almost impossible not to get attached to them.. I know I would never be able to work in a nursing home...Too sad, and painfull.
Date: 11/27/2002 10:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 30229    Awwwww, I am sorry you lost this resident... I know that a CNA has a very tough job, and my hat is off to you...
Date: 11/27/2002 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    aww I'm sorry...but just remember, the industry you work in is in GREAT need of caring people such as yourself. I know it hurts to lose people...but the job you do is so very important. You probably brightened her life just by the contact you had with her, and that, after all, is what is really important.
Date: 11/27/2002 10:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 5940    I respect CNA's a great deal, for all that you do. My grandmother was cared for in a kind and generous way by CNA's way back. And because of that, I say Thank You! But don't be sad, be happy. For what you are doing truly makes a difference to those who need your assitance. I salute you!
