Maybe it is true in some people, but definitely not this girl! She uses it as an excuse to do stupid things! And yes, it is rare. |

I doubt it, Penny44. And I don't consider her a friend. I consider her a nuisance who belittles everyone. But I think she's faking it. If you met her, I think you would think the same. |

Sounds like she has alot of emotional and social problems since she doesn't know how to interact with people. Some people like that love to cause chaos! |

I read somewhere that there have only been 5 or 6 documented cases of split personality disorder EVER. I very seriously doubt that she has SPD, but I am sure she has some emotional issues that she needs to work out. |

It does exist, but not a lot of people have it. Most people try to fake it to get out of trouble. |

Some people will do about anything to gain attention and will use about any excuse in an attempt to justify their immature way of being mean to others. When someone decides they have had enough of her nonsense and wallop her for causing them so much hurt, hopeful they will let her know that is wasn't her they walloped but one of the mean personalities. |

true "split-personalities" are very rare. Your friend might indeed have a personality-disorder, or suffer from depression. Maybe she is using the "split-personality" as an excuse to be abusive & not take responsibilty for her behavior. |

It definately exists. I study psychology and they have to fit the criteria. There are several symptoms and they must have a number of them for more than a month to be diagnosed with it. A girl cant claim to have it (she obviously doesnt if she is claiming) she needs to be diagnosed by a professional to have it. She would then go into therapy for a long time and try to find out what happened to give it to her. It really does exist though and many people have suffered from it. Check out WHEN RABBIT HOWLS (book) and SYBAL (movie and book) they are true cases of it. |

the current consensus in the psychological community is that evidence of split personality disorder is sketchy at best. I've read that the few documented cases of it are highly dubious-- they reviewed some of the interviews between the psychologist who "discovered" this disorder in the 70's and her patients and found that the doctor was leading her patients on-- planting ideas in their heads, thus shaping their perception of a "split personality." Personally, I suspect it's a bunch of bull-oney. |
