I miss the fun around the table,
stealing bits before it's done.
I miss the laughing and the joking,
I know I'm not the only one.
I miss the fussing and the play fights,
yes and even the real ones too,
I miss the hugeness of the dinner
knowing it was shared with you.
I miss my great big family,
and how there was always room for more.
I miss the hugs and I love you's
as we headed out the door.
I miss the sounds of home--
the sounds of voices I adore,
I miss grumbling that we ate too much,
yet still going back for more.
I'm just a little homesick,
on this cool November day.
I'm just a little homesick,
But I can STILL smile and play.
Because I have my memories, my husband and my kids
They are what makes it worth it--
They are what makes my day.
