It's getting worse and worse : (

I wrote something about this last night and now I am updating. I'm getting worse and when I sang at the Christmas concert tonight, I was thisclose to passing out up there. I took some nighttime medicine and it's starting to kick in, but my lungs hurt and it's kinda hard to breathe. Also, I ache all over. My head is pounding and my eyes hurt so bad, it feels as if they're going to fall out. Plus, I have a plugged up nose and a very, very sore throat. I had pleurisy a few years ago (that's where your lungs are infected and hurt) and I know that this isn't what it is. I think I might be getting a double whammy here - the flu and a cold. I'm running a little bit of a fever, too. I don't want to miss school tomorrow, either, but if I have to, I guess I'll have to live with it. What could I do to get rid of this? I'm thinking of making homemade chicken soup tomorrow. But I really need your advice on what could be wrong. I hope I'm not still sick on Christmas...

p.s. I tried salt water for my throat and it didn't work. Neither did the tea. And the medicine I have works for a little and then wears off. It sucks.

Date: 12/16/2002 9:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    I hate to encourage an absence, but you've got to let your body rest so that it can reccuporate from what sounds like the flu...chicken soup-great idea, going to school-do you want your friends to feel the same way you do? Get well soon! Get some rest!
Date: 12/16/2002 9:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I'd call in sick anyhow if you don't have any finals or anything...if your sick and with a fever your suppose to stay homeanyhow.....even if say it's just a fever....when I was a kid I'd miss atleast a day or two a month cause I'd wake up with a fever but feel fine....but you aren't suppose tolet your kid go to school if they have a fever asthey could be contagious and get everyone else sick LOL.....really call a sick day eat the soup take some over the counter meds and call the doc if it doesn't ease up :D
Date: 12/16/2002 9:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    Unfortunately, I get grounded if I miss school. I have all A's in my classes, but my dad thinks I'll fail if I miss one day. And I don't want to be grounded. I just got ungrounded for missing a day of school. I really am thinking of missing school tomorrow, though, even if everyone yells at me. I hate getting yelled at...
Date: 12/16/2002 9:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    hot lemon cold relief drink water... drink soo much water that it makes you feel like your floating... you need to take a day off for yoruself.. that means stay in bed and read or watch TV the whole day(no online chatting or phone or such just sleep) your body will thank you for it.. right now is sort of an ok time to do it.. schools are sort of relaxed because it's just before christmas
Date: 12/16/2002 9:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    If you are afraid of getting in trouble for missing school, go ahead and go to school. Just go to the school nurse and when she finds out you are running a temp, she'll have to call your parents and will tell them to pick you up. Would that prevent you from getting in trouble or would you be in more trouble for making them miss work? Does your back hurt when you take a breath? If it does that is usually a sign of pnemonia.
Date: 12/16/2002 9:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 8941    I felt like that with the lungs thing once...I could say one word and have to stop and catch my breath...I took a very steamy shower and it helped with that, but I was losing my voice before I got in the shower...it progressively got worse and I lost it completely for about a week. Have you seen a doctor? I really think you should. If you need to be on antibiotic, and you get on them, you'll feel much better in a couple of days. A lot of your sympstoms sound like what my husband had over Thanksgiving...strep throat. You have to get antibiotics for that.
Date: 12/16/2002 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 50434    Go to the doctor
Date: 12/17/2002 4:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 51565    hm..try cinnamen just untill you consult a doctor. Do this as soon as possible. you could just be haveing alergys and trouble with baromentric pressure but i also want you two eat some things with garlic and get to the doctor soon. Im sorry but you might have to miss school soon. Please eat the Garlic though. Trust me if you have any kind of infection at all that will help clense your blood and cinnamen is good for flu.
Date: 12/17/2002 6:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 24856    Go to the doctor would be my best advice......sounds like you need meds.
Date: 12/17/2002 7:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 61847    Rest, go to the doctor, and don't worry about your classes. If you have all A's then one day or two won't really hurt you as long as you turn in all of your makeup work. I am sorry your sick. It must be going around. Relax, and sleep and the chicken soup seems like a really good idea. You are sick. There is nothing you can do about that. Get better and Merry Christmas. AngelGurl4ever
Date: 12/17/2002 11:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51070    Thanks for the advice, everyone. I didn't feel good at all this morning when I got up and my dad felt so bad that he allowed me to stay home. Without a grounding! I'm just relaxing today and making homemade chicken soup. Now that I slept in today, I do feel a little better. If my nose wasn't stuffy and my throat wasn't sore, I'd feel one hundred percent. But I think I'll be better before that party I was invited to on Friday. :)
Date: 12/18/2002 11:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 46139    Sound's to me like you have a strong case of the
flu...I heard on the news that they are estimating
40,000 people to die from the flu this season alone
so if I were you I'd go to the hospital and get a
correct diagnose's so that this can be treated properly.

Date: 12/18/2002 11:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 46139    Call In..maybe you'll get lucky and they will close
the school down just like they have done other's
already.
