I've never liked Lott much, not because I thought he is racist, but because I didn't think he was a very strong Majority leader. But I actually feel sorry for the guy. Talk about being curcified. I doubt that anything will pry African Americans away from the Democratic party. In a weird sort of way, they are so brainwashed that they look at it as a betrayal to their race to openly admit they might be Republican. |

And how is Lott going to be an active supporter of civil rights which now requires you to be pro reverse discrimination? Hugo |

It will never happen and I'll never understand it. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and he freed the slaves. Why are they all Democrats? |

Frank, not only did Lincoln free the slaves, but it was Nixon who signed Affirmative action into law, Republicans support school voucher choice, which most Blacks are for and the Democratic party is completly against. Without the support of Republicans the civil rights bill would never have been signed into law. Nixon met with Martin Luther King, something neither Kennedy nor LBJ did. Nixon got 33% of the black vote although by 2000 Republicans had been so succesfully demonized that Bush got something like 9% of the black vote despite his support for school vouchers. Heck, most KKK were from the Democratic party although people seem to get them mixed up with the Republican party, which is how well the Democrats have been at rewriting the history of this country. |

ok, we get the point you are republicans, but to categorize one's race is wrong. Maybe they believe the Democratic views on it. Not everyone has to share your views. Maybe you are the one being brainwashed. and to Mr Frankie, just because someone freed the slaves doesn't make them support the party. They should have never been slaves in the first place. Both parties have their downfalls. Bigdadi9 |

Actually the Republican party wasnt concerned with freeing allready existing slaves in the south, they just did not want slavery to spread into the north. Read a history book for crying out loud. And to the author you must think African Americans are pretty dumb to fall for the desperate acts of a racist white man trying to keep his high paying position. In reality he just dug his hole deeper by going on BET. |

The democratic party made a huge change in being looked upon as the preferred party of African Americans around the time of JFK. Since then, the Democrats have used that connection to play into the sympathies of the african american community. Does either side truly care about civil rights on a whole or the 10% vote that the african american community provides in an election year? |

This story has got to be the biggest diversionary tactic I've ever witnessed. Here we are with no rights left and everyone acts as if this little statement made by Lott is such a big deal. It's only a way to create racial tension, when the real tension are the issues of the TIA network of Poindexter's, possible smallpox vaccinations, flu outbreaks on cruise ships, in schools in Texas, and military installations. Why can't peeps connect the dots? Cause they spend time worrying about these trivial matters. I'm not a segregationist by any stretch of the imagination, but creating more division among the population is the only real motive here, imho. |
