Shelly watched Harry pass through the Pearly Gates. She stared in confusion as he disappeared into the clouds with the man with the goatee. So she was right. This was heaven, and that was the Devil, coming to take Harry away to Hell because he didn’t believe in God.
Shelly basked in the beauty of Heaven’s front door; everything was in shades of white and gold, nothing drab or dreary. She smiled and waited her turn in line, gloating all the while, not thinking of her own judgement.
“Michelle Johnson.” Saint Peter announced when she approached, tapping his quill, and moving his ovalled glasses to the tip of his nose as he looked down at her. The girl nodded, the smile still painted on her face. “H62, Suicide Hall. Next?”
Shelly blinked, speechless, and was pushed away from the line as more people were sent to their fates. She looked around suspiciously and stood off to the side, near a large marble pillar. Hundreds of people had passed the gates before she finally found words.“Is this some kind of joke?” She asked herself; no one else was listening. “That wasn’t judgement. That wasn’t supposed to happen! Its like they’re assigning rooms!”
“We are.” said a voice from behind the gate.
Shelly spun around to see a tall, well-built man with long dark hair, and enormous white wings. It seemed as though he smiled sunbeams. His skin was fair, almost yellow, and his eyes were as blue as the summer sky. Shelly’s knees felt weak as she looked upon him. He only smiled broader.
“Gabriel. Pleased to meet you, Shelly.” he said and beckoned to her. “Come, I’ll show you to H62.”
The corridors of Heaven were the same as those of the Pearly Gates. The ceilings were high, and the wooden doors grand. Everything was, indeed, larger than life. There were no crucifixes, Stars of David, or any other holy representations anywhere; it was one big generic Heaven. <This place makes me feel nautious.> She thought as she examined the walls. <Almost like a mental institution...without frenzied screams.>
“You think so too, eh?” Gabriel said, his eyes unwavering from staring straight ahead. Shelly’s senses perked up suspiciously. “That was the first thing that crossed my mind too, Shelly. Don’t worry, its nothing like that.”
They stopped in front of a door. Gabriel smiled again, pressing a massive hand to it, and it slowly swung open. “Welcome to Heaven Sixty-Two.”
