I think the fact that they are no longer children but they are no longer adults... they get some freedoms but push the limits with them to see what the limits are |

I think alot of teens just do it because its in style, they like getting reations from people, they like the attention they get, they liked peeving off their parents etc...but not all, I'm not a rebel, I have a pretty good relationship with my mom, I have a bunch of piercings, the tips of my hair dyed blue, and I wear alot of black(no, Im not a goth) and I do it just because I like it, actually, my mom loves my hair dyed like this, she helps my dye it, she likes all my piercings except for my navel ring, she paied for half my pierings, and she wears just as much black as I do. |

I rebeled just so that I could prove to my parents that I could. Both of my parents are really smart so outsmarting them gave me something interesting to do. I've basically tried to stop now b/c I realized that I would get in more trouble if I got caught :P |

A means of expression....setting themselves apart from anything remotely close to parents, society and the rules. We all have had the experiences.....I believe, I just don't want to grow too old to ever forget.....am a child of the 60's and everyone thought we were doomed |

All those sweet, smart kids undergo a chemical imbalance at about age 12 which causes massive brain damage. Since they are in fact still developeing this damage slowly begins to heal itself at about age 17 and will be fully repaired at about age 22. |

Kids love attention, and the Real World sucks. Rebellion is an immediate solution for a permanent problem. |

hormones make teens rebel, and the thoughts of; or the desire for independence. |

well, i can sorta relate. i've dyed my hair, and i definately have my own unique style when it comes to clothes, but it wasn't really to rebel. it was (and stil is) just for fun. plus my family for the most part was supportive. in fact my mom bought me my first bottle of black nail polish, and my aunt was the one who helped me dye my hair. but since i live with my dad, whose a little more conservative, i've been toneing down my look a bit. which is cool, i mean i respect my dad, and if it's really upsetting him that my hair's an unnatural color, i can wait till i move out and have my own place . -disgruntaled angel- |

I think that kids are just trying to identify themselves, seperate from there parents. If you notice most of the time kids that have great parents are the ones who rebel like you mentioned above. Kids with addict parents usually study more to seperate there identity from there parents. |

its not always rebeling just to express yourself. some teens want attention, some teens do it because thats who they are |

Probably their parents or just being plain stupid. I must not be a normal kid, because I never did anything rebellious. LOL and my parents aren't addicts either. |

"Oh, Luuuuuuccccy, jew gaw some s'plainin' too doooooo!" You know what? Teens have been "rebelling" since time began. NOTHING is new under the sun; EVERY era has its FADS. In the 50's it was leather jackets, all black beatnik clothes and duck tail haircuts. The 60's it was tie-dyed, peace-marches, pot and hippies; and the kids of those times are the grandparents of today's teens. Sometimes I'd like these kids who put tattoo's all over their bodies to THINK about what THEY will look like when they are their parents or grandparents age. Do they think it will look cool at 50 or 60 with a hole in their nose or eyebrow; or tattoo's all over the wrinkles? Everyone; all kids THINK.....THEY are different and unique. Take a look at history.....they AREN'T. |

Oh, I forgot...he he he...when I was in my 20's, mercy me, I dyed my hair a different color almost every week. I remember the stares and the crazy eye rolls from the "elders"....yeah, it was a real hoot. |

I'm not rebelling - I'm being myself. I wear dark lipstick, I dress weird, and I act weird, but that's just my personality. Besides, being preppy just wasn't me. |

I think that it is a combination of changing hormones and a need to "find themselves" at that age your trying to figure out just who you are, what you like, and don't like. Testing boundaries. I think it's just a way of life. Changing from one phase to another. |

actually what our brains are doing is rewiring(so ive been told) we try something and if it dont work we try it again till we get it right, which is the reason for rebelling because we try to get out on our own because thats what NATURE is telling us we should be doing |

I think its pretty much society evolving. Once upon a time the sight of an ankle would cause a commotion, now the sight of an ankle is not enough, A bit of Thigh and what not is what you need these days lol. It will just keep going and going. Rules are made to be broken right :P ?? |

I am a teen and this why I believe teens, including myself rebel. The mere fact that they are doing something that someone has deemed "bad." It's a representation of their own free will, their independence, and right to do what they want to do. It's sad that they can't go about in another way because sadly this is what gets them into trouble. |

old navy i dont see your point,my parents support my style altho its punk. my mom loves the fact she never knows what im gonna be like every morning so i dont see how im rebelling, the only time i "rebel" is when i feel im being stripped of my rights and/or disrespected |

i can tell you exactly why......because they are stinking little brats that think they know everything and think that the parents are stupid and don't even have enough brains to realize that the parents just might know a little more about certain things if for no other reason they have been alive longer and just learned stuff along the way...........hows that for rambling???!! o.k. i'm kidding. i really don't know why they do it. i don't know why i did it either. it's probably just part of growing up! |

i rebeled when i was 16 and 17 because i felt tied down from my parents. i felt they were preventing me from doing things that i liked doing with my friends. however i've learned my lesson and now know that doing that got me nowhere at all. lol |
