Blacken the sun!
What have I done?
I feel so good I feel so numb yeah!

"Feel So Numb" - Rob Zombie

***********************

JEZEBEL: Tell us about yourself...

SMOKIN JOE: Well in reality I have two brothers, a sis-in-law, and a mother to worry about. I also have a few animals as well. I work as a maintaince technician for a swine company. I was in a wreck on March 4 2002 and luckily survived it with only 5 broken ribs, three fractured vertabrae, severe concussion, bruised heart and collasped lung and nearly had my arm severed. I stayed on life support for 18 days and walked out under my own power on day 23. I also quit smoking on March 4 2002 and have been smokefree ever since.

But I have 95% use of the arm right now and I went back to work three months after that headon collision. I was lucky to have lived because I didn't wear a seatbelt. God was with me on this one. The other person who was at fault never left the scene alive. A few more stretch surgeries on the armpit and I will be 100% again.

I run a haunted house for charity when Halloween arises and have been doing so for the last 8 years. Other than that I am just your normal average guy.

J: How did you end up at USM?

SJ: Well I was bored one night and I was surfing and basically was looking through the supernatural and wierd. I think it was Stonehenge and Pyramids that I was looking at and surfing for and I typed in mystery and USM popped up and I clicked on it and I was immediately hooked.

J: What keeps you coming back?

SJ: The closeness of everyone here and some of the unique post's I have seen. Also the innate humor of some of the people here make's it truly worthwhile to sit back and relax and enjoy this site. This site actually keeps me more in touch with the world than the TV does. Actually I hardly ever watch TV anymore.

J: Most memorable USM moments?

SJ: Well there are way too many on here now to sit back and tell about. I would say that post http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm318669.html about Telsha's Dead was one of them. I could not get over the fact someone had said she died of Tennis Elbow! Telsha also told me that someone had said several of her personal belongings had died as well. And to be honest that post caught me totally off guard. But this is the one that is stuck in my mind permanetley!!

J: Are there any specific topics you are passionate about?

SJ: If I see a post say about..... wife beating or spouse abuse then then I get riled up. Nothing makes me madder that to see or hear about a woman or a child getting abused. Thats the time I want to stomp a mudhole in the person that is doing it and then turn around and walk the mudhole dry! Anything with Abuse or Abandonment gets me started.

J: What are you up to when you're not at USM

SJ: Usually go fishing or coonhunting. I might actually do some work such as punching the time clock and showing up at a farm and leaving immediately going back home till the afternoon pucnhout. Then there is the pet store. I sometimes carry my critter with me. Sometimes she even gets to drive (when I can afford insurance). But the comments I get from everyone in there when we walk in together are well worth the cuts, scraps and bruises. She is on a leash and goes by the name Rocky. I raised her from almost birth so she trust me and is very jealous of me when I have company. NOTE: Never carry her coonhunting... it upsets the dogs as they think you are cavorting with the enemy!!

J: What would you do to improve the site?

SJ: Thats easy!!! Nothing. I enjoy USM the way it is!!!

J: Finish this sentence: "They'd die at USM if they knew..."

SJ: Hmmm this is a G-rated site so.... ummm (1) I allow a raccoon free run of the house and allow her to sleep in my bedroom every now and then. (2) you need a bulldozer just to get in the room where my computers are kept! (3) same bulldozer is required for my bedroom as well!! In other words I am a messy person!!!

J: What's the strangest thing you do when you are alone?

SJ: What you do mean like picking navel lint? Burning fireants with a magnifying glass? Calling up friends answering machines and leaving 1-800 numbers for them to call to get in touch with the IRS or a company representative that they work for.

J: Finally, what would you do if you were a ghost?

SJ: Haunt the people who made my life miserable!!!

Date: 2/14/2003 3:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 28946    This is so cool! Great interview, Jezebel.Joe, I'm glad you are alive and made it here to USM. I think you a great person. I used to have two raccoons myself, at different times. Ringo was my first and I raised him from a bottle. He was a house pet too and shared our bed. The kids used to get him crawdads from the creek and we would de-claw them for him. Oscar was my second coon. It's really nice about these interviews as we can all share so much.
