Sorry about the silly title, but Mercesgirl's story about the disappearing shampoo reminded me of this event:
When my sister got her first apartment, she invited me to see it before she moved any of her furniture or belongings. We walked through it, and then we sat down on the floor of the empty living room to chat for a while. My sister pulled out a big red hair pick to comb through her long, curly hair as she talked. At one point she stopped, looked at her empty hand, then glanced around her at the floor. I asked her what was wrong. She turned around and showed me the back of her head. She said, "Is the pick caught in my hair somewhere?" I looked closely, but didn't see anything. She stood up and reached into the back of her blouse, in case the pick had fallen there. Again she searched the bare floor. Since there was nothing in the room except for us, there was no place for the pick to hide. My sister even searched her jeans pockets. Nothing.
Later that same day, my sister called me to say she had decided against taking the apartment, partly because of the vanishing hair pick, partly because she discovered that the people living upstairs were loud and obnoxious. To this day, she says that she never did find the pick. How it changed my life:It made me a much better man! (Sorry, I had too much coffee.)
