The Slaughter House Next Door....by GORM

My eyes eyes are gazing out upon a peaceful scene, as my fingers dance across the keyboard; it is the pasture of the next-door-neighbor.

From day-to-day I see a beautiful black mare and two sheep...always two sheep. In the background is a barn-like building...which upon first viewing appears innocent enough...but is suspected by...me, of being a secrete slaughter house.

The pasture and building belong to a nice immigrant gentleman from Africa. I believe that he has a possibly illegal slaughter business going on. As I gather, in order to not surpass the legal number of animals kept in the small pasture he only keeps two sheep at a time (plus the horse). Periodically the man butchers the latest two sheep; I have noticed that occasionally for a few days there are no sheep to be seen, then replaces them with two more...and continues on so forth and so on.

There are alot of immigrants from his native-land in this area and they have an appetite for mutton...and he fills that need.

I am a good neighbor and I have no problem with his little operation. After all I live in a house/shack that probably violates every building code known to man.

How it changed my life:

Helps confirm my belief in minding one's own business if nobody is being harmed.

Date: 2/15/2003 2:58:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Thanks for reading. The previous neighbor kept goats, sheep & horses there too...but they were pets or animals being boarded. I really have no proof if there is anything illegal going on...but if nothing infringes on me...I'm perfectly a mind my own business kind of guy.

Date: 2/15/2003 3:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    Is this actual fact or just a figment of your vivid imagination?
Date: 2/15/2003 5:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    Living outside the city limits is great, you can slaughter all the animals you want here, and keep as many animals you want in one pen too. Except I hate it when other people dump dead goats on your property, that's just rude of them.
Date: 2/15/2003 6:47:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    I do have a vivid imagination it's true. Yes, dead goats would be a problem for me too.
Date: 2/15/2003 9:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 37038    the only thing that comes to mind as i read your post was silent of the lambs lol isnt that the truthlol
Date: 2/16/2003 2:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Yeah...poor lambies. They are so gentle (gentle as lambs) and tranquil, as they graze peacfully in the meadow. They like to follow the horse around. On the other hand people gotta eat and sheep are pretty good eating (I hear).
