when you cleaned out the tank, did you put those tetra drops in the tank so the Ph balance is right in the water? Sometimes if you put the fish into new water that's different than what they are used to, they go into a shock. Plus, I'm sure the bread crumbs didn't help lol  |

...since your tank was so dirty, you may have had an excess of bacteria which will cause any number of problems in the tank. The first thing you should try is to add aquarium salts to the tank to reduce stress and improve gill function. Your betta splendens may recover... they are sometimes pretty good at coming back from near-death experiences. However, the symptoms do not sound too good.  |
